Been a couple of times, on King Street. Very nice, over three floors. Not called there since Covid hit, so not sure how it has been affected.

I wouldn’t say it’s even affected badly . Waiter told us there had 200 covers between 1-5 Saturday dinner . We was sat down stairs near the door and watched maybe 50 people get turned away whilst we was there . The food was spot on really enjoyed it . The service wasn’t the best but I’d go back for a second visit .
@millario@millario manchester was not as busy as you come to expect for a Saturday afternoon but the bars were all doing a roaring trade . Had lunch and then headed too Spinning fields which was busy and then headed to dukes 92 which I think is one of my favourite bars in the evening sun . Finished with a Chinese in China town . Top weekend and for £30 in the premier inn Carnt moan

If you are in Manchester again (and it is raining, which it often is) and you like a ‘bar’, then this is a decent option. https://beermoth.co.uk/cafe/
If you want an utter classic traditional pub, then I would recommend this one. You can get to it by walking east from Dukes 92 along the canal https://whatpub.com/pubs/TRA/3586/peveril-of-the-peak-manchester
Finally not far from Dukes 92 is another bar. It is a long time since I have been, but it used to be fairly good. https://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/thewharf/
    Enjoy.

Peter Street Kitchen - it’s inside the Radisson Edwardian. Japanese / Mexican small plates. Been a few times and enjoyed it.

You do right with the Premier Inns at that price. We often do (or did) the same. (The Newcastle spots are often similarly priced too.)

Think there's a bit on La Bandera in here, from when we did the 'Manchester Tapas Trail' a few years ago. Ignoring the rat I saw outside, I really liked old-school El Rincon which feels like a proper Spanish gaff. Depending on which hotel you're in, Porta (just over the river in Salford) is the 3rd tapas bar from some very good folk.

Did you see Kala on King St? Not been but will be doing - it's run by Gary Usher who has a few places in the north west. (He's also worth a follow on twitter.) Hawksmoor usually does a popular lunch deal - 15 quid steak & chips I think it is.

Like @Bigrod@Bigrod says, the Pev is worth a pint and not far from there is my preference the Briton's Protection, which sounds like a hotbed for hooliganism but isn't at all. The Castle on Oldham St is prob my favourite boozer in Manchester.

Good brekkie to be had at Harvey Nichols, too. Think it was the same price, maybe cheaper, as the posh brunchy cafes & when I mentioned this the fella said that as HN isn't known for breakfasts they have to compete on price. Winner.

Funny world. My favourite Pub is just Out of the centre is the Marble Arch. Last pub I went to in Manchester en route to the Salford City match.
    upload_2020-9-21_9-46-31.jpeg

There are a number of decent places to eat in the northern quarter. One of my favourites is Cafe 63 a very french restaurant, again a good set menu at lunch time. https://63degrees.co.uk/

If you really want to push to boat out, then Mana is the must go to destination. Been once and subject to get getting a table (as rare as a hens tooth), we intend to go again. Dinner is very expensive, lunch is more affordable. https://manarestaurant.co.uk/

Yeah I like Evuna. Apparently part of my postponed surprise birthday trip this year was going to be a meal there before flying out to San Sebastian...

If you’re after something quick maybe on your way home on the second day, you can’t go wrong with Rudys pizza.

Never made it to the Marble Arch, the closest I've got is the Crown and Kettle nearby. Must've been strong beer cos we left, intending to go to the MA, but went the wrong way...

Whereabouts in the Ribble Valley? We have had a great meal at the Parker's Arms. Owner is a bit idiosyncratic, or nuts to be frank. If you haven't pre-booked they make you wait for each course until those who have are served. The table next to us were waiting ages. Lots of shouting in the kitchen. She can cook though.

Yes I get the impression the Parkers Arms is a unique place. Food always looks outstanding though.

We were at the Freemasons at Wiswell.

Been to the Freemasons twice last time a couple of years ago. A bit tucked away down a narrow street. Enjoyed the meal. Nice stripped back pub, which retains its character. Without being cluttered. Not far from Clitheroe, one of my favourite small towns. Excellent Byrnes wine shop, Exchange Coffee house, Cowmans butchers, and a Booths supermarket to boot.

Going down to Cornwall for a break at the end of October. One of the restaurants I had booked contacted me yesterday to say they are bringing all bookings forward by half an hour to enable them to meet the 10pm curfew. Another contacted me today to say unfortunately the curfew is the last hit they can take and are now closed until next year when they can hopefully reopen. I think this might be a sign of things to come for some of the independents
