I know it's water and therefore notoriously bland by its nature, but the offering in the top right, at 5 and a half quid a bottle, is brilliantly described as having "no taste".

    Money well spent then.

I've actually only just read the descriptions of them.....More pretentious waffle, wtf is "mouthfeel"?
I think the folk that fork out that kind of brass for Adams Ale have no taste.

    :joy::joy:

I know restaurants need to make their margin and don't generally begrudge that, but I've just googled the 19 quid stuff and it's £36.95 for 12 x 750ml bottles! = £3.08 a bottle

“No taste” at a fiver or “metallic” at £12.

I don’t envy the stuff you gastronomes have to go through.

Went with a friend to Ambiente in Leeds for a tapas lunch. Thought it was excellent value for £16.95 each for 3 dishes. I chose a grilled aubergine dish, chicken thighs with black beans and tempura prawns. My friend chose chorizo with potato, feta cheese with hazelnuts and sun dried tomatoes and albondigas meatballs in tomato sauce. We shared all the plates. We also had padron peppers and bread. My friend had a 20% off voucher for her birthday and a bottle of wine plus another glass each came to £31 each.
I enjoyed it so much I have booked a special 5 course meal in October, 5 courses with paired Rioja wines for £60 each.

I'm coming over for the Terriers game with my 16 year old son and staying in Bradford for three nights (yikes!).

Won't be arriving until late on Thursday night, so a pint after 11pm is probably out of the question (although I do read the Midland Hotel where we're staying has an all night residents bar), but we'd probably be on the hunt for a kebab. Anything of note in the city centre at that time? We're planning on going for a curry on Saturday night, so don't want Indian.

And the following morning, would like to introduce the lad to an English breakfast. Anyone recommend a decent greasy spoon or breakfast in the centre Friday morning? And then the curry....I know loads rate the International, but I've always found the food very salty. I'd love to show the boy a proper curry house like the Kashmir or the Karachi. Are they still up to scratch? If not, any other recommendations welcome. The Sweet Centre I've been before and I think it was good - was a little worse for wear ale wise, so I could go back sober to taste what it's really like. We'll be going after a few pub visits post match.

And then Sunday when we catch the train back, would like some fish and chips! Again, recommendations in a central spot close to the station welcome.

Thank you for any guidance you throw my way. I haven't been to Bradford for 8 years, and my son never has been at all (its his first English football match too) so I am looking forward to it. He on the other hand is a bit dubious, seeing all the tik tock and youtube reels about Bradford City centre crime rates and the "interesting" local residents!!

Breakfast choice would have been one of the old-timer cafes in Kirkgate market but I have a feeling they've all closed now. If so, there's a spot in the new market called Caffe Brigante (ground floor) which looks decent .

A few folk say the same about the International being heavy on the salt. Possibly why I like it so much... If you're going straight after the game then Sheesh Mehal is a good shout, with the Harp of Erin a stone's throw away should refreshment be required.

Whilst the city centre is looking much neater after all the redevelopment there's still a lack of decent restaurants. Maybe that will change over the next few months. Looks like some people have been getting some pre-game grub in the food hall of the new market - lots of good options and Northern Monk have a bar there too.

If you were really stuck for where to go perhaps consider a short trip out to Saltaire or even Halifax where, dare I say, there's a bit more evening action.

I'm sure others will have some ideas to chuck in the mix.

    Have a top trip.

People will tell you that Bradford is 'on the up' - truth is, it isn't. It's had a bit of polishing, but it's more than grim.
Just go to Leeds and save yourself the heartache of trying to tell yourself that it's not as bad as it is.
Hope you and your lad enjoy the game.

Good quality fish and chips on a Sunday in central Bradford is pretty much an impossibility I would say.

The Kash and Karachi are still going strong. I haven’t been to the Kash in decades, because I’ve always found their curries to be very salty, but the Karachi is still serving good curries at very reasonable prices. The lamb & spinach Karahi (aka ‘Rick Stein’) is hard to beat. And you still get a massive pile of onion bhaji for next to nothing.

The International had a posh makeover a couple of years back. I’ve been two or three times since and found it very good. Never noticed it being overly salty. I really like the Shimla Spice in Shipley but that’s a bit of a schlepp for an after match curry.

I think there are various kebab/Middle East places around the bottom of Morley St/Little Horton Lane/Great Horton Road.

As for boozers, the Fighting C0ck and Corn Dolly are hard to beat.

Where’s the best fish and chips closest to the centre? We don’t mind a walk.

I think your problem is a combination of both the city centre and a Sunday. Not many chippies open on a Sunday.

Bottom of Sunbridge Rd used to be ok, haven't been for a while though and I'm not sure about Sunday opening tbh.

Probably the Inn Plaice then, mentioned above. Not been in ages so could go either way.
