Probably more accurate than the one linking us with a £1,6 million fee for a Halifax centre half
    Good name though Festus Arthur

Inviting Hunts to a preseason isn’t remotely a playing contract . Helps him out though which is decent by the club.

What about the other 41 to 36 games of the league two season + cups?

And part of a defensive unit that conceded the second least amount in the division.

Interesting with Richard’s in that they could have just exercised his option but instead they have chosen to renegotiate his contract.

We could have prime Neuer and some fans would complain he holds on to the ball too long

It’s funny that it’s always the keeper who puts pressure on the defence as opposed to the keeper being a bit apprehensive about the 3 or 4 in front of him.

If he dropped a major bollock in any games just file him under “ normal league 2 keeper”

No real surprises on the list. I hope Kelly and Richards get a decent deal but not a long one, if they can't make the grade we dont want long commitments on L1 money. We're already carrying Smith and Oduor into next season at the minute who are about to get a big juicy wage rise too, making them that bit more expensive for L2/NL suitors.

I would've released Kelly but otherwise agree with the list. There's obviously contracted players we need to move on so hopefully Sharpe can work his magic.

Shame for Crichlow and Walker because they've both been players who have given 100% and had a real affinity with the club. However, it was the right decision and good to see we're not being sentimental.

The lad from Blackburn is very decent and due to our run after his arrival, we haven’t seen anything of him. He’ll get his chance in preseason. Whether GA gives him a chance is anyone’s guess, but knowing Alexander he’ll start the season with Walker in goals.

You've forgotten low balling him then forcing him to stay by triggering his contract extension?

Great way to manage morale, Park.

No major surprises on the list.
I suspect the conversations with Doyle are whether he wants to carry on as a player. The 2 young players will be on low wages so very low risk and if Doyle retires then Hadi becomes 3rd choice.
For me it makes sense for Huntington to come back for preseason so we can see how he comes through a few weeks of running, if he does well I'd give him a year deal as a back up option and a good leader to have around the squad.

I think a fully fit Jamie Walker would get a new deal but sadly for him his career has been blighted by injuries ..............i remember Hearts fans raving about him and how he should have played at a higher level but sadly injuries didnt allow it :(

32 soon, a higher earner, no guarantee of 1st team football. Seems a reasonable decision to release.

Appreciate we attempted to lower his weekly wage 12 months ago, but had he signed, he would have an extra year with us - now with an increased L1 wage. He said no, rolled the dice, and seemingly lost.

And now we all move on.

If everyone who has been offered a deals signs on again for next season, that still leaves us looking pretty short on quality.

    upload_2025-5-13_17-40-22.png

It's a long time since Halliday was a L1 starter, we'll likely want some competition or back up even if its a youth loan. The LWBs will need help as Richards is prone to knocks and Wright might well struggle again. 3 more CBs are a must. Couple more midfielders too with Smallwoods age and Pattisons injury record. Sarcevics career output in L1 is nothing to write home about, with Lapslie and Leigh having in and out bouts of success too in the side we might look at one more but that might be a Jan area. Cook might struggle to be fit until the autumn, we'll probably see 2 strikers come through the door...

By my count we see 9 new faces, maybe 10 if we want another attacking mid and that's IF everyone signs on again. Unless we try for another season to make something work with Smith & Oduor but I doubt it. Few youth loans to pad out areas and 5 or 6 top quality signings and we have a good look about us i think.

Trent has achieved all he can at Liverpool, and Madrid are the biggest club in the world. Im not sure why anyone is surprised.

Club should have sold him 12 months ago. They thought they could convince, but didnt. Now he gets a huge signing on fee, increased weekly wage and a chamce to play for the biggest club in the world.

Liverpool have dumped players in the past, and now they got dumped. Its just basic football economics.

It’s funny because I’d say that’s one of Alexander’s biggest strengths. He’s built a team that’s together and motivated whoever plays. Many players this season had long spells out but didn’t sulk, kept themselves fit and then came back into the fold seamlessly. Pointon and Halliday early on in the season, Byrne more recently.
