I believe he has made 8 professional appearances including subs, which is similar to McBurnie for us and a PL club came in for him. Plus clubs higher up scout players from the youth team if they’re good enough.

 

Yeah nowt like building the lad up for a fall after a handful of games. He wasn't under pressure but he is now, the club already building him as a star on twitter. Better to back off and let the lad learn his trade and not lumping all our hopes on him because of a lousy transfer strategy for years.

Perhaps the initial lack of fans this season may help him develop and gain more confidence without being under the spotlight of a big crowd who can quickly turn against the team when things are not going well?

 

He's had a promising start and has impressed McCall enough to be classed as a starter now. Probably more to do with how little he rates BRE. I'd just like to see us let him find his feet first and grow his confidence

 

This club doesn't learn. Did the same with Danny Devine and Patrick...look how them two turned out.

I always worry when we hand out a contract to a player after about 2 - 3 games then make out he's god.

However, what is worry he is better than the other CB's we have already.

Don't we have any young strikers we can give opportunities to?

I think we all know we have the most experienced forward line this side of fielding 40 year old Steve Claridge alongside 37 year old Dean Windass, is there no lad to give a chance to?

 

Or alternatively you let him know he is highly thought of and will get game time, instilling confidence thus also encouraging him to sign a contract. Alternative is he doesn’t sign, loses confidence

 

Because two things didn’t work out doesn’t make it wrong. I know as a fact if a big club picked him up for pittance you would be saying the exact opposite. Why didn’t we sign him up for longer etc. You find a negative in absolutely everything. Not a good trait at all

 

No, I just like a player to prove themselves after about 10 games then offer a contract. Offering him a contract shouldn't be high on the agenda. We have other issues to deal with.

Think for me it was the way make out he was the resigning of Messi.

 

Just hope the knock he picked up yesterday wasn't as bad as it looked. we might be three central defenders down for a while!

He does play at youth level, , scouts could have had their eyes on him for a while.
Mason Greenwood was picked up at a very young age 6/7 years old by Man United.

 

He’s being at the club for a long time. Maybe those 3 games just affirmed what they expected. It’s different to Patrick

 

I know he's been at the club for a long time. I have nothing wrong with the contract but I would rather have waited until after the transfer window.

Other issues need addressing first.
