    Booked the week off to enjoy the re-opening of our great British boozers.

    Who’s been / going where? Yesterday was very busy in town. Today I’m off round skipton.

    I've actually enjoyed sitting outside with table service. Obviously only nice when the weather suits but I won't be rushing to sit indoors. Glad to see them opening though and fingers crossed normality returns June 21 like they've said it will. :grinning::grinning:

    I went yesterday and it was busy.

    I am happy with table service but it was very busy so getting the attention of the bar staff from your table wasn't easy. I see no reason why a small queue are the bar couldn't be formed, after all we could do that pre masks and pre vaccine without any real issue.

    I didn't have to scan in to the pub, however we did go for a bite to eat and I expected it to be busy so I booked a table so they have my details anyhow.

    I agree. Table service is already the norm across pretty much the entire of Europe! I don't think we've quite mastered it yet, though, our waiting times are still pretty high in general across the pubs I've been to this week.

    Also, many places require far too much messing around on Apps and scanning stuff and filling plenty of irrelevant info in for the sake of a pint.

    When I started drinking waiter service was the norm, many pubs had two waiters certainly on a weekend the waiter in thd tap room at the Red House down Barkerend Road made a fortune Sunday lunch.

    As someone who had embraced the cashless society long before COVID came along, I've been happy to see some of the further changes that have been driven by this pandemic, some of which are here to stay.

    For example the bar I'm currently frequenting in Stafford let's you reserve your table on their app (walk ups are still allowed as well). The full food and drinks menu is on the app and can be ordered and paid for on the app as well. So far, the longest I've had to wait for my drinks is 2 minutes, delivered to my table. What's not to like about it.

    Our local now operates exactly as you've described and it is working really well ... other than the two minutes waiting time is a bit of a stretch!

    To be fair I’ve only been out twice since you could go back inside and not booked once. That side doesn’t appeal to me either. But the table service is much better and more relaxed
