So if Gibb won’t sell, are you suggesting our only option is to sign up for another 25 year lease which increases annually?
God help us if we ever find ourselves back in L2 trying to find what could be £1m in rent per year.
We absolutely need to break free from the strangle hold that Gibb has over this club.
I’ve said this before in previous posts that if Gibb won’t sell then we should leave. Other clubs have done it, most notably Coventry and look where they are now, back in the stadium they left and sitting top of the Championship when only a few seasons ago they were playing at Northampton and then Birmingham.

 

How is this grand scheme of yours going to be funded. ?

 

I’d like to hope that as we progress, interest in the club rises and a potential investor / buyer comes onboard. It would be great if said investor then paid up the lease agreement and looked to building a new stadium in the metropolitan district, leaving the pension fund with the white elephant in its portfolio. Obviously this would take massive amounts of cash that I can’t see happening, then again, would Wrexham fans have thought they’d be where they are now 5 years ago?

 

Where would we play , if we pull out from VP
local stadiums with a big enough capacity to hold our 20000 crowds
Elland road, Huddersfield the only 2 within 10 miles, Barnsley, Burnley, Sheffield
Would they want us and if so what would it cost to hire their stadiums, we are not playing there for free.
Gibb and the pension fund hold all the cards, until someone with the financial power gets involved to sway their position and unfortunately, unlike Wrexham, our local politicians are not going to throw money at a private business. If they had any to throw. There is also no sign of any mega rich investors on the horizon.
As much as i dislike it, i am afraid we are stuck.

 

We could find some rich investor to buy up Horsfall and develop a look-a-like stadium?

 

Logistics need to be sorted obviously. But simply staying at VP paying rent that increases annually no matter which division we are in is a crazy option.
If the new deal was on a sliding scale where x amount for league 1/2 and x amount for Championship/PL then that might be something to discuss.

It doesn’t matter at this stage which ground we’d use, there will be somewhere trust me even if that’s 50 miles away. The priority is not signing a new lease on the same crap terms as they are now.
