I couldn't care less about Liverpool or Manchester United. My team for the past 60 odd years has been and always will be Bradford City.

And what happens if Man U or Liverpool end up near the bottom of these new super leagues. Do they think fans will have such a clamour to watch them then? “Today is Man U vs PSG in clash to decide who finishes 14th, live from Abu Dhabi”.
Sounds thrilling. As I say they can go.
It’s the fans of these clubs I feel sorry for. How can they afford trips abroad to watch their teams every other weekend? They are being robbed of their clubs.

Let’s build a league without them. All those rivalries and history we have England. We don’t the self indulgent top 6 to make good leagues with good football

Not sure why anyone would want another club to go bust.

I am getting sick and tired , of these mega rich foreign owners of the football clubs in the uk.
They care not one jot for the history and tradition of the game, just want to line their pockets.
We were also told how good the premier league and the influx of foreign players , would be for the national team.
We have still won nothing since 1966 and that drivel today. I got more exitment clipping my toe nails.

If you say so. There’s plenty of other big clubs to take their place. Off they trot. See how they get on. If they want to come back they can start in non-league.

Football has never lived in the real world, unlike in football would any company in the present financial climate continue to add to its wage bill even though it's income has been slashed.

Let them go, tell them they no longer represent English football or the Premier league and should they wish to rejoin they would do so at the lowest part of the football pyramid possible.

I guess it depends on how they work it out.

Given the number of season ticket holders we have I don't think we bring that much in week to week in terms of gate receipts, so others may actually benefit from this more than we do.

The PL clubs largely don't want a European Super League. The push for that largely comes from clubs in Europe because basically, no-one wants to watch German matches unless its the likes of Bayern vs Dortmund so their tv rights income is awful. Their European competition TV money makes up a much larger percentage of their revenues than the English clubs and they see a super league as a way of levelling the playing field.

How anyone not in the top 6 thinks this is a good idea is beyond me. It’s a total power grab. They are dangling a carrot with the efl money and the gullible chairman are lapping it up. Games totally gone in this country if this passes

Peterbrough owner on talksport predicts by December that 5-6 clubs won't be able to pay their players wages. He's predicting that December will be when it gets really bad and he's going to have to put in £700,000 of his own money.
The Government are really making a mess of this.

That will be an interesting meeting not allowing the big boys make a power grab, greed mate no more no less, we saw it years ago managers bitching about a congested fixture list plus Cup games, then the first thing they do when their knocked out of the Cup game fly to the Middle East or Asia to build their brand.
Don't complain about a hectic fixture list and then fly your players half way around the world.

    https://www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk/news/2020/november/efl-statement-rescue-package/

It looks like there's been a bit of a change of heart by the EFL on the PL's rescue package. I'd call it a U-turn! After having rejected the £50m package for the Div 1 and Div 2 clubs and stuck to their original position that they wanted £250m from the PL for all EFL clubs, including those Championship clubs with wealthy owners, the EFL has now agreed to accept the £50m for Div 1 & 2 clubs.

That's good news imo for those lower league clubs who are really suffering at the mo with rumours of players and staff going unpaid and a small number of clubs staring liquidation in the face. I hope this gets sorted out quickly now. It appears disciussions are still taking place on how the PL will help Championship clubs, well some of them at least. I'd like to be a fly on the wall in those discussions!

Or bad news for those who were relying on a couple of clubs going to the wall to save us.

£250,000 is peanuts and crumbs from the table of the Premier League.

Exactly. Giving it out at a flat rate across the board would have been madness when some clubs have much bigger fixed overheads than others. Smaller clubs with a low cost base could have ended up profiting from it.

Government and the premier league condemning it now. Good on them. Hope this never happens. Using covid as a bargaining chip to get what they want the big 6. Joke.

The "big" six have actually only finished 1st to 6th on five occasions.

Im quite happy for these clubs to feck off and play in their European super league. The sooner they do the better. This new proposal is all lined up for it anyway. Longer pre season, no charity shield or league Cup and less fixtures with there being 18 teams. It means they can bugger off to Madrid and Milan and Paris no problem while still competing domestically.
As soon as the TV deal with the champions league ends then this will be a reality imo.
