Nobody has denied it isnt about fitness. Its also about looking at player roles, formations, team selection, sussing out leaders, installing a winning mentality and seeing who Adams fancies too and what positions we are short.

Its such a bizarre thing to even think, let along say on a public forum.

Adams is looking at Staunton as a centre mid. But apparently pre season is just to do with match fitness.....

Can you imagine the outcry if Adams treated each pre season game as a training match and didnt know his starting 11 or best formation at Exeter?

 

What bit it’s an extension of training don’t you understand?

Fitness is the main aim though as a PL manager correctly said,

You mean like the season we got beat 7-2 by Harrogate in pre season and were subsequently relegated? Of course results are important, not in a points sense but it means the strategies you are using are working.

We all know , yourself included close season is of course to get players fit, to get used to the managers way of playing and in comers gelling with the existing squad, of course it is.

But to suggest it’s ok if we get arsed 5-0 every game preseason, it’s somehow ok because at least they are fit.?

It’s a balance, you know and I know.

Actually results DO matter.Shows where we we are at that moment in time.(Win lose or draw) Football is all about results.Under Adams it's mainly about breeding a win mentality. No game friendly or not lacks significance to coaches.

 

Adams strikes me as a man that will be fuming inside at any loss, regardless of whether it is a game that matters or not. I for one, really like that about him.

 

Today's pro footballers are light years away from the closed season situations of years ago with regards whats expected of them by the club.
Some players took the closed season as time out and returned back for preseason training carrying excess luggage.
Many clubs give their players a dieting/fitness regime they are expected to stick to making preseason training far better than in the passed that's not to say Adams and his team let them have it easy far from it.

 

Like our previous manager you mean ? I'm loving the cut of Adam's gib and convinced when he leaves it will be as a legend.
