I hope you're right, I'd love to see us play two up top but GB seems reluctant to set us up that way.

Even against Guiseley we played with one up top in both halves, even when Doyle and Donaldson were on the pitch together.

It seems such a waste not to go for it with the strikers we have and if Donaldson continues being played wider to accommodate the system then it feels like an opportunity missed.

 

i'm sure any pro footballer can play multiple positions but the alternative positions might not be at the same level. playing full back is very different to centre back, especiallty nowadays when they are expected to do more than just defend

Interesting to note the impressive performances can just at a time when his contract was expiring though. Barry Conlon anyone?

It felt like you read my post but then just created an example that I never suggested though.

Doyle is more than capable of hitting a run of goals in a single month, he's done it before so I'm not sure why you'd be "amazed".

I'm not sure he'll get the chance but considering there are 7 games in August, why is 4 or 5 goals from a striker on penalties, completely out of the question?

You could see it before you just chose to try and belittle me by attacking my choice of language then insinuated I was a child. Doyle on last season's evidence is categorically crap. It's great saying play to his strengths but he showed me nothing as to what his strengths actually are, beyond crying when he gets booed and falling over the ball. He's great at both of those. The argument is entirely relevant because my whole point was based around the need to get rid of Doyle because he isn't good enough so I'm glad you finally agree.

 

Name any goalkeeper that was renowned for positional versatility and I'll name someone who thinks Doyle is good enough.

 

I think we can in terms of attitude and application. I would forgive them if 100% of the playing squad had a poor season, but some still performed well and it was generally those who you would have expected to struggle. Which for me gives the senior players nothing to hide behind. I don't think Doyle's all that over the entirety of his career if I'm honest and I genuinely believe we could spend his wage far better. Could do worse than looking at Liam Millar from Liverpool on loan, given they like wage contributions and what not. Obviously a youngster with no real record but I'd rather have him than Doyle as he has actual standout attributes and is a different kind of player to Donaldson and Vaughan. Can also play left wing too.

 

Your choice of language was child like. If you want to be replied to properly at least try to construct a proper point instead of just saying "shitty Doyle" and "he's dogshit" when someone has offered you statistical facts to back a certain point of view.

 

Crap? He got 11 goals in the worst side we have ever seen at VP. He wasn’t amazing but was far from the biggest issue.

 

Doyle was as bad as anyone last season but seems to have escaped a remarkable amount of flack.
