I was there bud, had a couple of shaky moments off the Bradford Park Ave set pieces, but the young lads played well tonight. Deserved winners.

Denison and Mboma look to have potential.

Agree a couple of them looked steady away, all seemed very young and slight though.

Avenue's number 7, Ollie norman really stood out. Just moved up to avenue having scored 20 goals for tadcaster last year and was actually released from our youth system a couple of years ago.

Seen a couple of avenues games so far, they have Connor shanks playing for them now who was also released by us. Didn't play tonight but stood out a mile in there other two games

Oli Norman looks to be part of our Academy coaching set up, so that's interesting to note.

Unless I'm mistaking something, I like that idea a lot.

Park, pot kettle black...you talk more bollocks than anyone else on this board, that is a FACT

I refuse to name my source, as I said in the post. It is unfair on the person and would land them in hot water. They feed me snippets and I relay them on here from time to time

You just get back in your bubble, trying to convince yourself that we had a really successful season last year. Deluded mate

Do you know whether the trialist who played for us was a youngster or somebody older we have on trial?

If your memory only goes back as far as the end of March, then it was one of the most successful seasons in recent times

Numerous times you have quoted that since GA took over he got us enough points to be in the automatics, then back tracked to playoffs. You've also quoted (incorrectly) that we picked up more points than Doncaster, Crawley & MKD since he took over.

He did OK, no more than that, boosted by results in the last six games win wins over a free falling Barrow, and out of form Newport, Salford & Gillingham. The only result of any note in the last seven games was the win at Walsall.

GA's rating for the season is a B- and he has to do better in 24/25. He's far from proved himself as the Messiah just yet.

This might be naive of me, but we seem to have a really good youth set up at City, why don’t we use some of the best we have to play in the league. We never get to see some of them, we only hear about them when they are off to the teams above us.

The crème de crème move on early and there is no route really for the remainder. Some get professional forms but because of expediency to get results they never get a chance with a few exceptions. I have long thought we needed a development Squad but have never really got it right.
Much is spoken about investment at this club there are two areas where I would like to see it one is a proper development set up and the other a major investment in Scouting I believe in the long run they would give a big return on investment.

Oh I definitely could Park, believe me, I just refuse to get drawn into your games. @Ulysses S Grant@Ulysses S Grant responded to you and pointed out what we all know about the many stupid contradictory statements you have made over the past few weeks, funnily enough you didn't respond to that particular post did you : unamused:

Also as @Onside@Onside alluded to, there have been other reports about KM's so-called disruptive behaviour. Maybe you should send an email to Jason McKeown from Width of a Post to tell him they are talking bollocks as well??

    No, thought not...

I think the majority have respect for GA as a person and coach. There is no way he would leave KMc at home if genuinely thought he could offer the squad and team leadership and a good level of football. Even if he couldn’t play to a good level his experience and expertise could be used to support the squad. Therefore something has definitely happened for GA to want him to stay at home. I think the analogy between Young and KMc is stretching it to be honest. We knew there had been a training ground incident with Hughes and Young. I thought it was harsh just for answering back. Preventing him from going to bond with his team mates in Spain. Then not speaking to him and sending him to Swindon was not only harsh but damaged our forward line and our prospects of gaining promotion.

From what I've seen, GA has a lot more class as a manager than MH.

I totally get they want to go on to achieve at a higher level, but why can’t we have a year or two before they go?

Unfortunately the gap between the u19s and League 2 is massive. All of the best youngsters get snapped up by the age of 13/14 as the big clubs take a punt of them with very little risk. Most of the u19s that get released end up in the National League North at best. Of the released academy players that had pro deals last season but got released:
    • Youmbi - signed for Farsley (National League North)
    • Rowe - don't think he's got a club
    • Richardson - signed for Cleethorpes (NPL East)
    • Wadsworth - Hull u23s
    • Bentley - don't think he's got a club
I can't think of any players who were in our academy to u19s level in recent years that we've released which have gone on to have a good career in the EFL. The only ones who done something that I can recall are McBurnie, Pointon and Devine (although his career has fallen and he's now in the NPL.)

Until we either invest big in the academy to get it up to at least category 2 and spend money on creating an u23s team to bridge the gap between academy and first team I don't think we'll get many coming through and making a lasting impact. In the position we are now it's probably not a priority as it will cost a lot and takes money from the first team.

Having so many big clubs with much bigger resources to close by will make it even harder, the likes of Man Utd will probably have more scouts in Yorkshire than we have in total. Also category 1 clubs can recruit Nationally from u12 age group whereas we are limited to 90 minutes which is why the likes of Brighton have taken some of our players.

he's a young CB, has played 5 times for the u19s. Why not a least play him in the bsm cup.
