Something has to be done to curb spending but do think the likes of salford with rich owners will just find a way around it and submit the right figures for the salaries and come under the cap. Plus what happens if teams break it? Are the punished in that season or allowed to be promoted and then punished?
If it goes ahead we need the championship to agree to it too for me. Are we in danger of creating a second premier league if they are allowed to spend what they want on wages in comparison to leagues one and two? Let’s say they get relegated to league one and are allowed a year to adjust to salary cap they could quite easily blow everyone out of the water for wages and win league one easy. I know football is not always that simple but you get the idea

Biggest stadium in the league, next door to probably the best city outside of London and only a couple of hours on the train to London for southern players as Mark Marshall did for a couple of years. No reason why to a player we shouldn’t be more attractive than the rest of the league most of which play in front of about 3 thousand a week.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... I think the FFP rules just need tweaking and enforcing properly. Players/agents get paid far to much, and the knock on effect is higher ticket prices and higher tv subscriptions so all fans should want something which reduces costs throughout football. However a salary cap in just one league is a waste of time, imagine getting promoted on a wage bill of £1.25 million then teams above on say £6/7 million, it would be to big a gap to bridge and could just result in yo-yo type situations between league 1 and 2. Also it would be difficult to enforce it straight away on relegated teams giving them an advantage straight away.
A sensible salary cap/FFP is the way forward and no doubt players wages will be effected because of Covid, but for me it has to be universal from FIFA. Make all leagues throughout the world comply, and make the punishments so severe that clubs would be scared to break them.
It won’t happen though, most likely scenario is players take a hit in the pocket for a few years until economies recover then it’ll be like it never happened.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...QCFC BANTAM, Dennis and Chad like this. -

Hopefully it will encourage clubs to develop their own player and to pick up and develop players released from higher upStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Rogered Tart and Bronco like this. -
I think this would be great for Bradford. Afterall, if you have the opportunity to go to Bradford or Barrow both paying about the same who would you choose?

Level playing field?
Nice idea. But pie in the sky.
Plenty of chairmen/investors who can game the system if they want their club to progress.
How are the likes of forest green rovers surviving in L2.
Clubs have always been at the mercy of ambitious money men wanting to make a quick buck.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bronco likes this. -

Wage caps and BCD doesn't make it a status thing it makes it a what do you bring to me thing. What do you offer really.
What's your training facilities like?
What plans do you have to improve off the pitch?
Do you own the stadium ?
How safe financial is the club?
What does the club bring to the city?
Is it easy for me to get sponsorship?
How creative are you as a football club off the pitch?
When you start going down this route the likes of Barrow, Harrogate become more attractive than Bradford.
Mansfield, Salford will benefit from wage caps but won't want it as they have money.
You have to remember Rhodes plan is based on audience and that audience won't be there next season(if next season happens) so this makes us a less attractive club to sign for.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Interested Bystander likes this. -

The club is probably better off than most in the W league
It brings plenty to the with big gates.
Playing in front of big crowds gives city the edge over all for sponsorship
There will be lots of players looking for clubs and we will be one of the most attractive in league two.
