    Most certainly is. People naturally choose what they wish to believe based on their own personal beliefs, political alignment or immediate sociocultural beliefs.

    Should any news emerge to counter the aforementioned, people tend to immediately look for ways to dismiss it and consciously/subconsciously ignore it, i.e calling out the source, lack of evidence, hypocritically blaming an agenda, et al.

    Now that this season is drawing to a close, I think this virtue signalling gesture needs to stop from next season as it clearly hasn’t had any impact on racism (hate crime reports at football are higher this season than any other).

    Nobody needs players to kneel to be reminded not to be racist, racists will be racist and whilst the intentions are sincere its impact is nil.

    The alternative is that there is now more racism at football than previously ?

    Reports of crimes always increase when interest and coverage is higher, just look at reports of spiked drinks. There were hardly any and then a bit of news coverage and all of a sudden there are reports of it happening in every club in the country

    Right, so players keep kneeling, reports of racism grow as a result, players kneel a few seconds longer, perhaps before the second half as well? Reports grow..

    How is that in any way doing anything to prevent racists being racist?

    If anything, it causes division.

    We saw this first hand in our venue. Never a single incident then all of a sudden at least one if not more reports a night of alleged spikings.

    In a way I hope they don't kneel from next season only to stop the embarrassing actions of an aged bloke behind me who when they take the knee calls the players a right set of winkers whilst gesticulating the winner sign and boo's as loudly as he can. 10 seconds later he is cheering them on.
