Think you need to find an owner first who has ambitions of being a stable championship club. Our current one doesn't.

Club statement this evening from Morecambe:

Bond Group Investments Limited can today announce a support package for the Club which includes a playing budget that will be the highest provided as a League Two Club in our history. The budget will have a significant uplift compared to our promotion year in 2020/21.

This budget is a statement of the Club’s intent to have a competitive and successful 2023/24 season in League Two.

Derek and his recruitment team have been notified of this budget and are already working hard to assemble the playing squad.

The Club will announce any new signings through its’ official channels as normal and we wish everyone at the Club, and the community of Morecambe, the very best for the season ahead.

It won't need to be high to be their highest ever in league 2. When they were in league 2 last time they were always amongst the lowest in the division so I wouldn't be too worried about their budget.

Throwing money about willy nilly is a help but it doesn't guarantee promotion you have to earn that over the course of a full season.
One thing I have learnt over the years of following Bradford City never count your chickens theirs always someone ready to spoil the party before the final whistle blows.

I think we estimated 50,000 for the four play off games x £20 = £1m
Take out costs, EFL taking a slice, split the rest four ways then probably £150,000-£200,000

Congratulations to Carlisle, won’t miss trips up there next season but Stockport probably represent stiffer competition financially.

It’s a little irritating that Carlisle won as from their point of view the semi final win over us is now cemented as a success. Had they lost today then beating us would have meant a lot less, so it’s annoying to go down as a stepping stone to success for them this year.

Nothing to be done about that though. We should definitely be in the mix next year but Mark Hughes worries me. His name has now lost its lustre not only for many of our fans but for opponents as well having presided over a failed campaign.

Is he the man to make the most of our generous, fan-fuelled budget? Can he compete with experienced L2 and L1 managers again over the course of a tough season? We can only hope so.

Yes I recon about this range of figure also, which on first glance doesn't sound much but if you consider a top end L2 player earns what? Say £4k pw? Then that's £208k per year, so based on that theory we get a top end L2 player for free next season as a consolation prize. Obviously I know all too well it never seems to work like that with the old bills to pay etc spiel we'll get.

It would have a lot more if it had been divided based on home and away match attendance. I know that sounds mean but I don’t support other teams and it is not as if we are loaded.

Apparently according to @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler it has taken 5 years to get over Rahic. Then we had the years of administration x2 to sort out. So we are in no fit state to prop up others. Salford and Stockport have very rich and committed owners Carlisle have just gained extra income from promotion leaving City to pick up the tab ie net contributors.

Don’t worry Ryan Sparks will talk all about sustainability.

@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler was talking bollocks. No reason behind the madness barring Rupp won’t spend money hence why Sparks talks about sustainability.

Rupp is a rubbish owner of the club and until we somehow get rid of him then don’t expect to see the club compete financially and to a certain degree competitively.

Fans need to wake up and drive Rupp out. Longer he stays the worse it will get for us.

You're being generous there. For example, in our case almost 50% of our attendees - children, youths, students, over 65s - don't pay the full price for tickets. To give you some idea, an adult ST of £198 results in average income of around £140 per ST. More importantly, only 50% of the net revenue after costs, VAT etc is shared by the four clubs. The take per club will be much smaller than you're indicating. Still helpful of course but more journeyman Div 2 player rather than top end player.

How do you propose we start to compete financially if you get your wish and Rupp is driven out? Is there a line of wealthy investors keen to takeover that none of us know about apart from you? Is it a consortium of car wash owners?
