£7k is the average for the top 100 earners in the league.

Average squad is around 25 players so around 600 players earning a salary. The other 500 will drag that £7k average down dramatically. Its not even close to £7k a week throughout the division.

Think that a lot of league 1 owners are glad that we are up as well :)

I am ecstatic we’ve got promoted but I am worried for next year already and find me looking at the table for 4 worse off clubs. Our budget will be bottom 10 without a doubt (wasn’t even the biggest in league 2).

Maybe am overly cautious but this team needs major overhaul to finish above 20th. Not sure it will happen with Rupp at helm and the fact he’s put in this year. That worries me.

Birmingham will have pushed the averages up massively this season as well.

Luton will take their place with some of their wages.

Id imagine Wrexham are up there for wages aswell. That said, Luton coming down will keep the average high.

Hopefully have a top 10 budget. We need around 6 or 7 first team ready players.

I get the feeling that Rupp wont want us back in L2 any time soon. Yesterday MUST have impacted on him witnessing those scenes after THAT goal?

Players out of contract in June:

Kelly, Sam Walker, Colin Doyle, Jamie Walker, Sam Stubbs, Huntington, Smallwood, Haidi, Ibbitson, Wadsworth, Oliver.

We have one year options on:
    Chrichlow, Johnson, Richards.

Not many senior players out of contract really.

Walker ( keeper) and Richie will be offered new deals imho. The rest no.

Options will probably taken up on Richards/ Critch ?

He's a superb pro tbf. I'd say our most under rated over the last few seasons. Not the most cultured footballer but he'd definitely do a job for us when needed next year.

Personally I think him and Byrne’s distribution is just too poor. I’d happily see Crich, Shepherd and Baldwin as options next season, with another 3 quality CB’s. We play our best when we don’t just hoof it into touch every 5 seconds.

Unconvinced he has the correct attitude. It's OK looking at his goals, but his ration has fallen drastically since Crowley left to such a degree he got just two in his last eight. In fairness Kavanagh has a better end of season scoring ratio - and let's face it, you want a striker that shows up when the going gets tough.

I thought he was very ordinary against us.

Just started to finally sink in, gotta be honest.

Exciting to accept now that the club will be able to prepare for League One, get in!

Could we break Walsall hearts all over again and go for Nathan Lowe on loan next season?

Stoke have given him a chance, but not sure at 19 he's quite ready for Championship football.

6'4, and we know how pivotal he was for Walsall only too well!

In fairness to Rupp our budget was always decent in L1, i.e. pretty certain it was Top 7 the season we got relegated - we were just incompetent in terms of recruitment coaching etc.

Of course times have changed, but unconvinced apart from Huddersfield, Luton and Cardiff - that any team will be paying big bucks.

Rotherham, look like they've gone down the 'cheap to hire' coach route. Unconvinced Stewart has the same enthusiasm as before.

Peterborough, will only be pushing the boat out if they get some good revenue in. If Charlon and Stockport are still in L1 - expect them both to be in a better starting position than us, with more money.

Unconvinced, the rest will spend demonstrably more than us, i.e. a manager can make a difference.

Yeah. I've kind of warmed to Kelly who's improving slowly - i.e. every 20 matches he's better than he was. However, I think if Critchlow got a 'boot camp' pre-season in him, he'd be better.

So keep them two and initially I've no problem with Baldwin at RCB, provided we get a new quality CB in the middle.

If you take away the crazy away games, where Smallwood's absence and the sickness bug contributed - defensively we're fairly sound.

Don't be surprised if a fit Johnson (and that's quite an ask!!) is given a contract. If he stayed healthy he'd be good as back up for RWB and RCB. There was a match where he made a great run into the box only to get clobbered. He looks very unflustered and we could do worse for back up.
