Up front has to be the main upgrade in my opinion.

Even if Cook comes back at his best (which is unlikely due to age and nature of his injury) he isn’t getting anywhere near the same amount of goals at league 1.

Kav is absolutely nowhere near league 1 level.
Leigh hasn’t done at at league 2 level this season so not sure what the step up will do to him.
    Mellon isn’t ours.

Goalscorers ultimately cost the most money and I hope that sufficient funds are put in to fund one.

Of course it is but the consequences of struggling and potentially ending up where we are now are far worse and surely worthy of extra investment.

Agree. And we have to be ready to pay fees. Minimum of 1 quality striker and addition in that 10 role.

I'd hope we're looking at the best players available in League 2 and 'lesser' League 1 clubs. I.e. not the cast offs. If Notts Countt don't go up, Jatta for example. Only has a year on his contract, in the TOTY for L2. Could be an ideal sort of addition.

The club simply has to invest something significant in some key positions including a Cook replacement. It wouldn't bear thinking about to be back in the khazi within 12 months from now! I suspect we'll hear lots of words like 'consolidate', 'stabilise', 'become established' etc. I doubt we'll hear much said about promotion. The idea of having to fund a Championship.club will scare the sh!t out of the current owner.

We could be seeing regular crowds of 20,000 plus next season, that's a going to be fair increase in match day revenue from walk ins and away fans. We've absolutely got to build on this momentum and expected cash flow to invest well in the squad with support from our owner.

It will, although I don't think many of us would be expecting SR to start 'investing' £20m a year in the Championship.

However, a team that's challenging for promotion to the Championship could be seen as a very attractive proposition for someone with money to burn but looking to get into higher league English football. Just add the idea of buying cast offs and making millions and I'm sure that'll seal the deal.

That's very true. My personal view & hope is the latter. But we haven't heard of many takers so far despite his apparent desire to sell.

Likely because they were backing themselves to go up. Fair play.

But if they don't go up, he'll have 12 months left on his deal. Makes it a different proposition and likely a lower price.

But with all that said, if we're serious about making a dent in League 1, paying the best part of half a million for a quality striker is the sort of business we'll need to contend with. It's an area I'd hope Rupp will invest. I.e. it's an entirely different prospect putting money into transfer fees and buying assets, than putting money in to prop up running costs and wages.

Nows the time for Rupp to step up and materially invest in all aspects of the club - quality signings, the ground, training facilities. Or sell up. Because we're a hugely attractive proposition to an ambitious owner. With momentum now in full swing and the size of our fanbase, we could very well be taken on the sort of journey that clubs like Brentford and Bournemouth have been over the next 5-10 years.

    There have been interested parties.

There's huge interest in football ownership from US private equity and venture capitalists. I'd be surprised if we're not on their radar, and with the footage going viral from yesterday, it might just be our time....

In any event, what's crucial is that we're run with ambition and investment. Enough treading water. It's time to grow, to push, and aim big. The city, the club, the fan base is ready for it.

I wonder whether the club are considering a weeks extension to the early bird price on STs. They could be bold and stick to their guns - but there'll be several thousand there yesterday who haven't signed up, and with a bit of a nudge could now do so for next season....

Exactly. I want a crack at promotion in league 1. We aren't that club flapping about in the khazi league now, potential 20,000 full paying crowds every other week with a City on the crest of something special. FFS lets push the boat out and bring in the calibre of player that will have us pushing the playoffs next season.

Its easy to say the deadline was known about, i guess it predicting how many extra sales you might make after yesterday dependant on the price rise. Tricky one.

Yeah. There's an argument to say it's attractive enough to stick to the price they have. Either way it needs a real strong sales push over the next week or two. If they could get 5000 STs sold st an average price of £200, that's an extra million in gate receipts, plus probably near that amount in food and drink sales too. Plus the ability to charge more for advertising etc.

It's the time to double down. We need to break from any historic mindset of 'just stay up and consolidate'. Assert ourselves as a big L1 club from the off, and aim for the play offs minimum.

Of course , no debate from me on that….He has seemed to have gone on a long sulk according to their forum ….. Is that the sort of character we need ,( If it’s true) ?

A great man to have up front but I do suspect he’s CC bound?
