Depending on how old people are, they used to be a lot, lot more embarrassing and idiotic with relation to football.

No point blaming social media for that.

    Just society as a whole.

What annoyed me in particular about the Huddersfield game wasn't even the conduct of the fans, it was that the referee and assistants absolutely bolted, knowing full well the final whistle was about to take place while opposition players were left out there to fend for themselves.

I don't think anything bad happened at Town, but I thought that was cowardly of the officials.

If pitch invasions are ever to be allowed, and again, I think they're totally pointless, then there has to be a way of getting people off the pitch first.

However I've no issues with real consequences for invasions going forward, and I've actually heard people arguing 'but don't let a few idiots spoil the fun', honestly, just celebrate where you are. The fans can manage it all season round, but on the last day it's different? Get outta here!

I’m also sick of sky saying things like it’s a tiny minority ruining it for the rest and saying these are the scenes you want to see when looking out of the gantry, they’re justifying pitch invasions. It’s not a minority sky it’s everyone who goes on the pitch as fans aren’t actually allowed on!

I don't agree. You can't punish all supporters for the 'actions' of a few. Imagine City getting to Wembley, you stay in the stands and then because of a pitch invasion and (wrongful) incidents, you don't get the chance to go to Wembley? How do you punish Everton tonight in a league match scenario?

Pitch invasions have gone on for decades and I just don't see it stopping, through a lack of will, inadequate stewarding and some moronic fans.

The actions of mindless thugs attacking players and officials is disgraceful and needs firm actions.

An 85 year old Luton fan had his head bust open as Huddersfield fans chucked coins into the away end, nothing at the players as such but they went for the fans. It was strange seeing an official do that but way these games are going I wouldn’t feel comfortable out there myself, but I do agree the players need to be allowed off some how as well. For me though the only way now is tougher sanctions, football society has never been sensible and reasonable in this country that’s why we can’t have a beer while watching the match like in Europe. I doubt these incidents will be a wake up call for every fan so something needs to happen.

I disagree it’s a few, it’s not allowed for any fan to enter the pitch so it’s far from a few whether you attack someone or not you’re part of it in my view. As for Everton do what they did with Blackpool and deduct them 3 points simple. Fans eventually with tougher consequences would stop doing it, if there’s only a couple that go on that can be handled by a steward that’s obviously a different matter and a simple ban for the fan will do but you can’t ban thousands there would be no one left.

As for me I’d feel gutted but it’s a game of football, players are at work and shouldn’t be put in that situation so I’d understand and blame our fan base.

Completely agree. Its become a pattern now and it reflects society. Its disgraceful. We'll end up with riot police wading in with batons, horses and dogs again. Back to the 70s and 80s.

Seems to be the default reaction of a dickhead to go be Billy big bollocks infront of the opposition fans.

This is from the 25th Anniversary of Bradford Fire. Thankfully these idiots were plastered all over the T&A and given bans so a marker was put down to say its not acceptable.

Issues with the pitch invasion at Everton as well, with Vieira apparently embroiled in an altercation.

I know, it's different in context, as was not a pitch invasion , en masse but "dickhead types" unfortunately exist. Look at the attack on Jack Grealish (Birmingham v Villa) in 2019.

14 weeks that bloke got. £42k fine for Birmingham. 24 weeks for the bloke at Forest over night.

Needs to be a will to stamp this out by the football authorities, not token fines. Expect the same for Forest.

Police should randomly grab around 50 fans and fine them 500 quid. Wouldn't take long

Players and officials of clubs (who are on/side of pitch) should be allowed to take any and all action necessary to protect themselves from invading violent out of their heads fans (who are not allowed)....right...?
