Phone emojis

Phone emojis aren't actually images, they are unicode text characters that software converts to images. Xenforo does't support unicode, it has its own text to image replacement system but its one where we have to upload every image and assign a piece of text to replace, In theory we could add then, you can download the full list of the codes but there is like 700 of them and some of them have more than 1 version (for example most of people have multiple different skin colours) and I would need to download every single one and upload them and then import both the correct code and the image into the emoji system

The thing is they are running on a platform they have no control over beyond choosing how many forums they have and what they are called and then some minor visual changes so the platform/host can push updated features to the software without breaking it.

With us we are still running Xenforo 1, we would like to upgrade to Xenforo 2 but it's not like installing a security patch. We have so many addons to bring many of the features that you all use, some which you might not even realise you are using but bring quality of life improvements but it makes upgrading more difficult. Either having updated versions of the plugins we use or alternatives that can import data from the old one or where I can fix them to work on XF2 and then having the time where we can potentially have the forum go down for anywhere from a day to a week so we do the switch. When we are in a position to upgrade we will have unicode support but Unicode support isn't worth rushing it and losing other features and also having the site down for multiple days at the wrong time
