So with Norwich and Watford getting promoted back to Premiership at first attempt and possibly Bournemouth joining them, the usual parachute payments will instead be distributed between the Premiership clubs.

I believe £80 million is the figure quoted. Would nt it be great to see this money distributed instead amongst Football League clubs to help them all out during this difficult period.

No doubt the Premiership clubs would not entertain this though. It makes me laugh that the 14 Premiership clubs who called out the so called super 6 for their greed regarding the Super League are just as greedy really.

It's the parachute payment system which imo really distorts things below the PL and particularly in the Championship. In a typical season, the PL pays out around £250-260mill in parachute payments after paying around £100mill to each of those clubs who were relegated that season. It's all part of the reward for failure.

On the other hand, all of the other 66 or so EFL clubs share around £120mill in solidarity payments from Sky/PL. As you suggest, what a difference it would make if some of those parachute payments were instead shared out amongst the other EFL clubs, not just this season but going forward as well.

When Man U and Liverpool proposed their Project Big Picture last season to revamp the finances of the PL (including reducing the parachute payments to pay more to EFL clubs), it was defeated by the other PL clubs. Self interest at its worst.

Why? Parachute payments are made from the earnings of the EPL. If they don't pay them then the cash stays in the pot.
The matchday and broadcasting revenue shortfall is approx 2B for this season.

This is a one off and when fans come back I highly doubt the relegated prem clubs will return at the first attempt.
It’s traditionally been a very difficult league to get out of the championship and will go back to that way. Norwich are a very good side under a very good manager. The others have a good squad but Watford for years were strong in the championship anyway due to Pozzo family.
The parachute payments are not the issue

The reality is that any 'extra' money distributed to clubs will be spunked on wages. They're all chasing the dream. If you can't afford to live beyond your means then don't.
