I must admit I was very sceptical when these two took over. my first impression was like many others, in it for a fast buck. Having read most of the chairman bashing I don’t think it’s doing anything constructive. Whatever the reason these seem to be hear for the long run. & what’s more, whose to say that their long term plan isn’t going to work? They’ve obviously done something right in previous businesses & know how to make money. Yes agreed, football is a very different business. They have however displayed a huge amount of belief in their model. Maybe just maybe this might take off, sustainable football, a debt free club at championship level. How many of us would be happy with that? Before people call me a happy clapper, I’m a fan like all the others. I’m certainly willing to give this 3 years for it to come to fruition. I hope many more will too. If not I’ll hold my hand up.

You don’t buy a football club to make a fast buck ... there are far easier ways for them to make money

 

I just don't see the model generating £5m in player sales per season, which is what would be required to sustain a semi competitive budget in the Championship. That's some conveyor belt that's required.

As Barnsley found, you can't keep selling your best players. Sooner or later that catches up with you.

 

Tell me one club that has acceived any sort of significant climb through the leagues without investment in playing staff. For example, look at "SALFORD CITY", with a plan and funds,will more than likely be a football league side in ayear or two. So come on Rupp, GET THAT CHEQUE BOOK OUT. SHOW SOME AMBITION TO THE TO THE FANS THAT LOVE THIS CLUB.

Didn't we rise about 35 places up the league under Parkinson without a penny being put in by the owners....actually with money taken out.

 

I heard Mark Lawn made a £1m loan to the club at one time ?.

It helped the club keep going until we got Phil Parkinson as manager certainly, otherwise the 35 places under Phil Parkinson would have been irrelevant.

I didn't think for a moment they were in it for a quick buck, I took their statements at face value.

I don't think the fans aren't being constructive, it's Edins vision that is flawed, it very rarely works. In fact I'm struggling to find another club that's attempted this business model other than Crewe.

Interesting to see you're willing to give Rack and Ruin three years, well, they've already had two. So, you're giving their model half a decade. We will be far lower than our current mid-table anonymity by then.
Considering summer of 2016 I truly believed we were 12months off the Championship, i'm sickened.

However, like you, if we're playing in the Championship i'll hold my hands up. But what really is disconcerting, is I'm rarely wrong haha
