Former City youth player joined Rakow, top of the Polish league after leaving us and starts today in a friendly v NK Olimpija. The match is free to view via the Rakow YouTube page.

It's worth noting that Rakow have a great story, similar to that of Leicester should they win the league this season.

He scored a 90th minute equaliser to end the game 3-3.

Polish Premier League is about League 2 standard these days, at best.

How many Polish football matches have you watched? Probably zero. It's not smart to talk about things you have no experience with. The standard isn't great compared to general European leagues but most clubs in the Elkstraklasa wouldn't be out of place in the Championship.

Seen quite a bit of Polish football on my travels, their top division is far better than league 2.

@DimitriPayet@DimitriPayet you are badly mistaken if you believe a country whose domestic league is ranked on the same level as Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan's domestic league could compete in the Championship.

For context, Israel and Cyprus are ranked 20th and 21st, Poland are down in 28th. Their teams can't even get past qualifiers for European competitions these days.

The Polish league is a really poor standard. Could we compete with teams from the Azerbaijani and Kazahstani Premier League? Possibly. That's the category of football that the Polish Premier League is at the moment.

It's an irrelevant question, with all due respect.

Their league's UEFA Coefficient ranking and their country's teams recent performances in European competition paint the picture.

That's like saying, "well how do you know the San Marino league is terrible, if you've never watched any of the matches?" it's irrespective to the point.

One thing I would add, however, is that they still get very good crowds and their atmospheres are up there with the best in Europe. This could probably subconsciously leave one believing the football is better than it is because of how good the greater spectacle is.

So I'm doing a bit of post regular-season googling and I was surprised to see that Olivier Sukiennicki who was showing as 'unattached' on our current season wiki actually went to Raków Częstochowa in Poland who have just finished as champions in the Ekstraklasa. He initially went to their II team but was promoted in January.

I don't know much about the league but according to the World Football Power Rankings it ranks 23rd - higher than the Championship so seems odd we didn't try hold on to this youngster and he didn't see any play... that I can remember?

I've been to watch Rakow play and he didn't make the squad but he played in a few of the in-season friendlies and impressed by all accounts. Let's see if he gets game time next season with the new manager
