I think we know what to expect from an Alex Revell side with the big lad Piergianni (and others) at set pieces.

Surprise surprise, they have the most set piece goals in the league so far. Their 15 goals, they have 7 in open play, 7 from set pieces and 1 pen.

Although they are pretty identical to us, in terms of passing play. They average 18 crosses per game (14th highest), we are at 20 (9th highest). They average 71 long passes per game (9th highest), we are at 74 (5th highest). They average 226 short passes per game (3rd lowest), we are at 250 (4th lowest). Very similar styles so far this season. They win the most aerial duels on average in the league too at 31.9%, way higher than the rest of the division but they are pretty low at creating chances. Should be a similar match up (on paper) but they'll play for the set piece.

I posted earlier I'd watched the Orient game in the McCall suit and although Orient were very poor in the air which surprised me as Beckles is usually reliable in the air Stevenage have defiantly worked on their set pieces which you would expect with Revell being their manager he knew how to attack a free kick.

 

Let's not get arrogant and ahead of ourselves. 6 points from the 4 games would be great considering where we've come from.

 

Let's hope we don't see anything as calamitous as this on Thursday.

 

An average of 1.5 points per game for the rest of the season would very likely secure a playoff spot. Before a ball was kicked, most fans would have been delighted with top half finish in our first season back in L1.

Are you saying your expectation is now autos and playoffs would be "a bit disappointing"?

 

I don't think she's saying that, she's saying it's not arrogance to expect good results after the start we've had. We'd all be delighted with a playoff spot but we are top of the league after beating many of the favourites, why is it arrogant to expect it to continue?

Always going to be a very difficult season for Morecambe with them not being able to recruit until the season started so they will have been getting the players nobody else wanted plus having no pre-season. Added to that they played at Truro on Saturday so hardly idea preparation for a Tuesday game. If they finish 5th bottom then it's a very good season for them.

 

Gary Bowyer and his Burton team got a point against Huddersfield can they do the same at Cardiff ?.
