I don’t think I have seen Valley Parade so deserted for a league match this century. In fact for forty years!

I had a look at the match reports. T&A, Yorkshire Post, BBC, Sky and a host of other sources do not mention the attendance from last nights game. The clubs own website makes absolutely no mention of the figures.

We all know this club (and others) uses the ‘tickets sold’, rather than people in the ground measure, to announce the so called ‘attendance’ figure. Perhaps for tax purposes?

However it was a really an exceptionally low number. The performance was ‘drab and turgid’ (terms used by reporters). It isn’t the stuff to attract supporters, if this continues, I think the number of tickets sold next season will be significantly down.

Personally I would think the number in the ground was between 5-6,000 maximum. Huge swathes were absent where we sit in the Main Stand. Looking around it was obvious that it was the same in other areas of the ground.

So was this actually the lowest number in the ground for a league match, forget the fairy tale official attendance figures, if they are ever released, this century?

This increasingly frequent occurrence should be a warning sign to the powers that be but i genuinely don’t think they care!
For the first time i sat there contemplating if I want to do this anymore
I didn’t even leave my seat when we scored. I felt as flat as the football on the pitch

Same here. Didn't even celebrate the goal. I also questioned why I was bothering, I've given this regime enough chances to turn this around, backed each one with my own money/season ticket. I know what the club needs to end the malaise but that doesn't look like happening any time soon unless something unexpected happens.
I can see this being my last season ticket until that change happens.

Probably no more than 7,000 maybe a little under 7,500 at the very most. It could just be a Tuesday night in the winter thing but I think a lot are now voting with their feet. I'm certainly in no rush to go see another Alexander side, I know sacking him doesn't resolve anything in terms of the running of the club and it will be rinse and repeat with a new boss. But just because it wont alter Rupp or Sparks model, doesn't mean we have to accept what is on offer from the current boss either.

Just walking to and from the ground, the pub beforehand, the number of places to park near the ground, an amazing change. The huge drop in numbers was dramatically apparent.

I know people moan, and perhaps exaggerate things to a degree, but last night was a stark change.

I would guess that most evening games will get around 12,000 people in the stadium, last night was a massive downturn in the actual numbers.

Irrespective of your view on the current personnel at the club, be it the players, management, or the owner, then ignoring this situation is foolhardy.

We will never know the number of actual bums on seats but the records will show 16/17k
Totally unfair to any sponsors expecting their companies exposed to the larger amount and less than half that in attendance
I also wonder if Mr Rupp sees the higher figure and thinks all is rosy
Fingers crossed last night was his December visit so he could see the actual state we are in
Club should be made to publish the actual attendance

I am usually always active here during matches (for good or for worse with my input) but I've skipped the previous two games up to last night. It was the same old rubbish as the last game I watched a few weeks ago.

There is just nothing to be excited about at this club anymore. Were run by a German who pleasures himself to race cars and aeroplane seats, a Ricky Gervais character as CEO (even has the cringe face), a scout that signs players who grew up on a diet of parmos and some velvet looking rich boy who is only in a position of power because his grandad is loaded.

Lets not even start on the lego head managing the team and his dopey assistant. I've tried to like our captain but he's as dull as dish water. Things are BAD

The powers that be know that they won't get this kind of gig again. If Ryan Sparks resigns from his post, is her ever going to be offered a job elsewhere of the same calibre? It's back to marketing at best so he won't resign and it is now causing harm to the club, because he is putting himself before the club.

I can't run a football club, it takes a special skill set to do so, some that very few have and one of those isn't Ryan Sparks.

It was evident at half time in the main stand. Normally on a cold night the queues for the kiosks are massive and unless you go well before the half time whistle you miss the restart. Hence I generally don't bother. Last night I wandered out about 5 mins after the whistle. At most 10 people in the queue in front of me. Back in my seat before the restart.

The downside of falling attendances may also impact future sponsorship from any new or current ones who put money into the club on the selling point of having circa 16k at home games. They won't be happy if their captive audience falls 50-60%.

I think one game last year seemed lower, can't remember which though however you are right in that it was terrible to see.

Imagine selling the club to players with the only selling point being come here and play in front of a passionate 17,000 strong crowd and then being faced with that.

It should be shaming for all concerned but Rupp won't see the true figure and sparks will use the cold weather and TV coverage as an excuse.

It is scary to think what the future holds, you can guarantee another season ticket rise in March, will be bring up a likely 75% increase in total cost over the last three years or so, try selling them on the back of this.

We could be looking at 10k sales at best, which will budget lowered, "worse" players signed and the cost of the stadium becoming a worrying burden.

I hope sparks and Rupp are ready for what's coming at them

That was a side view of lower tier Kop and Midland Road.

atmosphere was horrific, just as it is on social media every day. We were duped by Ruppy. Again.

god I hate this pathetic football club.

Think it was the Salford game last season 1-1 draw in mid January that was the lowest I've ever seen for a league game at VP. Last night was a close second, got there 5 minutes before KO and looking around it was just sad to see. The apathy that has set in and the fact change is needed, otherwise the problems will worsen.

The Independent Fans Group are in the process of gathering fans opinions for writing a open letter, which is a good starting point. Now there's plenty of fans who are against Rupp/Sparks.

Well as we prepare for Christmas the fans are yet again glum and feeling we have been on this merry go round over and over again. It normally it is lucrative time for the club as fans buy presents for family members. I am guessing not this year.

It is lovely time of the year. As we look forward to spending time food and drink with the family. Excitement as Boxing Day beckons. A very big crowd come to enjoy the game.

I feel so sad that this year it has been overshadowed by the state of our club. Looking at our near empty stadium last night is really heartbreaking.

My first match Boxing Day 1967 we played Notts County and we won 5-1 in the mud. I remember the thrill of watching live football and the overwhelming smell of cigar smoke and the bright home knit jumpers

The game where literally no one turned up was the rearranged game against Notts County which we ended up being pumped 3-0 in. It was days after Mansfield beat us 5-1 on the Saturday. This was the Tuesday after we had lost to Forrest Green who hadn't won a game in like forever.

Has anybody ever asked Rupp...or even Sparks at a supporters board meeting...why Rupp returned unopened the parcel of fans letters sent to him last time by the Independent Supporters Group?

You'd have to try squeeze it in around discussing the need for pool tables and arcade machines on the concourses
