Harsh maybe on the lad himself, but we cannot afford to waste a penny of the budget on a player who came here with a well documented injury prone reputation and has continued with his injury woes here.

We have to be brutal this summer and get rid of most of the out of contract players, including Angol.

There is of course no guarantees with any player that we sign that they will be relatively injury free, but doesn't make sense to me to risk been bitten twice with Angol.

We already have another striker contracted for next season who looks more and more unfit looking as the season has progressed.

 

Sorry Jon, cannot disagree more. Aside from the fact that it was a dreadful style of football, much worse than what Adams served up I may add, Bowyer was never getting us up that year. We absolutely fluked it for the first half of the season reliant on OGs and penalties most weeks. The xG (yes I know) told us when the fortune ended we'd drop like a stone and that's exactly what happened. He absolutely deserved the boot.

 

We've nothing about us. We must be the least mobile side in the league. We have no pace anywhere in the side. So even when we're neat and tidy, it goes nowhere because we can't get up the pitch or penetrate the opposition

Seriously, who's the quickest player in this side? There isn't anyone you'd describe as quick. Not one. And most are downright slow.

This season can't end soon enough. Big changes needed to this squad.

 

Have we not had enough of the Angols, Ramsdens, Eisa’s, Riley etc. As good as they were (or supposed to have been), they’re no use to us spending 75% of the time injured and taking up the budget. Every signing carries risks, but we don’t have the medical team of a Man City so hoping they’ll make miraculous recoveries is a hope too far for me.

 

We looked a totally different team for the last half hour with Angol and Vernam on the pitch. Amazing how much better we can play with a striker who can control the ball and move more than a lump of wood (Cook) and a wide man who actually puts pressure on defenders in the final third rather than flattering to deceive in safe areas (Gilliead).

 

We were the better side in the last 20 mins. The subs helped us, because they brought a bit of pace and mobility into the side.

Cooke frustrates and I think the break at the end, and the poor pass to Vernam probably shows why Hughes isn't starting him.

Glass half full - lots of changes needed but if they're in the hunt for top 3, we can massively improve our chances with some smart recruitment in the summer.

 

It's called having an opinion. You know, which I'm entitled to. This was a lacklustre performance that only improved when the subs came on. And even then it was a poor standard of football from both sides. Again only my opinion but I was bored shitless for the majority of the 90 minutes and we can safely say the recruitment this season at Valley Parade had been nothing short of a disgrace. I trust Mark Hughes and his judgement, and that starts with bringing in a new striker that is actually capable of getting this team promotion because Andy Cook ain't that striker. I expect to see major changes in the summer both in and out, the only thing that will make this team anywhere near competing for promotion.

 

Well taking into account the first game Hughes came in two days before and in these eight games we have played the top seven teams in the league whereas in the comparison you made we played only Exeter that’s an improvement

 

My last 'Away Day' of the season tomorrow (think it's 11 for the season). Corn Dolly trip. New ground. As usual over the last few seasons, probably a really good day spoiled by the football!!

 

We certainly look better going forward with Angol & Vernam on.

I like Angol and his injury record is a real shame, but all said and done if he wasn't as injury prone then he wouldn't be in L2. If we could somehow conjure up a deal that reflects his fragile state injury wise and we aren't going to use him to death causing the inevitable injury then I would like to give him another chance next season, because when fit ability wise he's right up there at this level.

 

It's a familiar tale under our ownership, with the same outcomes. What gives you confidence that Sparks will be given such opportunities?

By the way I'm not comparing Hughes with Adams or Bowyer, McCall, Grayson et al

But I'm inclined to say, all good managers with good track records all have failed at Bradford. One constant...

 

Cook didn't win a single contested header first half. A lump of wood would be no less useful.

 

Vernam has definitely been one of the very few bright spots of this dismal season.
Always looking to get on the front foot.
