I think Cambridge as I would expect from a calderwood team defended very well over the years we have struggled at VP with teams that pack midfield and defence and there will be many more matches like this one before the season ends. We have to find away through these matches better. More width and pace is needed. On the plus side I don’t think we will concede many goals this season. And Vaughan and Donaldson should score a few

Nothing wrong with opinions I’m offering mine aren’t I? There’s just a lot of ott comments tonight. Apparently Bowyers a poor manager now if you go on one of the comments a few moments ago. Although the same poster has called every manager we’ve had poor since C & B but he’s not the only one. He asked the question but what a strange question to ask if that’s not what you’re thinking.

Anyway bored of going in circles I give up I’ll keep my laughing at some of the nonsense to myself. Funnily enough your criticisms are actually balanced but you’re defending people who are going ott and way off the handle

That will be because, although I don’t entirely agree with them, I do see where they are coming from and won’t just shoot them down as others have tried to do.

What makes me laugh is that we all claim to be happy for people to have their own opinions, but then get totally defensive if they think those views are OTT.

Anyway, as you say, nothing new to add so let’s leave it there.

Sorry, because you ended your post with the comment you didn’t want to respond any more, I ignored it.

So, you posted “Tell you what burns charity bet. They end bottom four I pay £100 to the burns unit, they end above 15th you pay £50? Even giving you the better deal considering how confident you are they’ll struggle”.

Yes, i’ll take you up on it. Is there a way of getting it added somewhere as a ‘sticky’?

I think a lot of people expected us to win, nothing wrong with that given the opposition (as you point out). However, it must have also been expected that we may be a little slow out of the blocks this season and things may not click immediately. I expected a scrappy 1-0 win today and we almost got that with the Vaughan effort against the bar. If that had gone in, I think most people would have said the same things that were saying now (we need a CM, we need a winger, Doyle isn’t best suited to the deep lying forward role, etc).

So 0-0 or 1-0 I don’t see a big difference, there are still a few gaps in the squad that need addressing and there are still some tactical tweaks that may need to be made.

Norwich sacked their manager after that game (a club legend, no less). Not suggesting City should do the same, but it's perhaps not the best example to use if you're calling for people not to over-react...

    From my point of view:
    Positives:
1/ On the few occasions we had to, we defended well
2/ Apparently there were 22 (see negatives) efforts on goal. I'm not disputing this but it didn't seem that many to me...but 22 at least shows opportunities were created.
3/ The crowd played their part and the atmosphere was pretty good

    Negatives:
1/ Apparently there were 22 efforts on goal!..to be honest we never really looked like scoring..at least 3 pairs of shooting boots required!...practice practice practice.
2/ The final third of the game was played against 10 men yet we struggled to make any headway and take any advantage out of their sending off.
I'm not going to go into personal performances but let's just see where we are after ten games. For now, the jury is out.

Didn’t know I’ll just stick with the Sheffield United example from 16/17, Newcastle from the same year, Luton last year or even looking at results yesterday teams expected to be up there in their leagues such as Fulham, Cardiff, Sunderland, Peterborough all suffering worse results than us, hope that is enough

In this division you’ll have two heading sticks at the back so I agree

I’m a firm believer that playing a winger who hogs the touchline provides something even if they don’t touch the ball and that’s stretching their team creating more space

I can see us being involved in a lot of 0-0 games this season

It's a lot like the 16/17 season when we drew so many games in the first half of the season because we didn't have a striker who was good enough. If we'd have had wyke for the full season, we would've got autos.

This season we're a quality CM and LW away from turning 0-0 onto 2/3-0 wins with more balance and creativity in the team. So so frustrating.

Not sure if you’re saying this as a positive, negative or just a prediction. Personally I think being able to keep clean sheets and grind out results (either 1-0 wins or 0-0 draws) is a good ability for a team to have. If getting promoted this season means keeping it tight at the back and grinding out results then I will take it.

Don’t be frustrated we could still sign 2 or 3 quality players

I'm a firm believer in playing a winger who's proper position is a winger. I've seen enough of Gibson now to realise he's not the answer to a left winger problem, he has attributes but they are more suited to a more infield role. Look how effective the last proper winger we had was, Mark Marshall. Has full backs in all sorts of problem the season he was player of the year because he had the ability to go at them. I've yet to see the lad from Walsall so i can't pass judgement but the side as it stands is crying for a wide player who can genuinely beat a man because the jury is still out on Scannell.
