Probably why us Bradford City fans have been so negative our lack of goal celebrations last season.

Yep, just about needed a rehearsal to remember how to
celebrate! I'm nervous about how many non performers
we'll have at start of season and will it affect morale with
    new recruits?

Goalkeepers showcase their talent by making saves. Not by conceding goals.

Midfielders showcase their talent by taking the ball from their half into the opposition half and finding one of their own wingers or strikers. Not by giving it away to an opponent.

Strikers showcase their talent by taking the ball, moving forwards, beating the opposition defence and goalkeeper and then scoring. Not by allowing the ball to be taken off them or shooting over the bar.

If you have that talent and the score is 12 - 0 then so be it.

And Clough had no complaints, and took as a compliment the second leg team fielded by City was just as strong.

I'm sure Javi Gracia would have also been complementary of City's display yesterday they are the team you set the bar too.
The only problem with that is the vast majority of teams (even in the Premier League) have no way of competing with Manchester City's financial clout.

Mate we've both been watching football for over 60 years, when was it ever different?

You're correct up to a point, back in the day you had mainly local business men who'd done well who usually owned their local clubs.
    Bob Lord at Burnley.
Harry Reynolds, Manny Cussins, Leslie Silver at Leeds.
Peter Johnson, John Moore's at Everton
    The Moores family at Liverpool
Louis Edwards then Martin Edwards at Manchester United, the examples are endless.
The big movers and shakers only got interested when they saw what rewards the Sky deal could deliver, but it would be nonsense to say in our case we would not want to be a part of the benefits a wealthy owner could bring to our club even at our level.
So unfortunately as you say the big money goes to the top clubs and the also ran's can fight over the scraps.

Biggest load of bollocks I have ever read. Anybody who as ever played football will know that you keep on trying to score till the last minute. Liverpool v Palace a few years back a prime example.

This wonderful notion that somewhere back in time teams were killing it on the field with just eleven working class lads playing for beer money while the big spenders squandered their cash is somewhat amusing. Success has always been money orientated, even the spell of success we had was paid for by the bank of someone else. Take Man City for instance, their fans can count themselves the luckiest going, their owners could have picker pretty much any team in the league and their fans would have been the lucky buggers, just happened to go to the blue side of Manchester. And yes i'm an envious sod.

I agree they should carry on but it's definately not bollocks. I remember Michu saying that they'd killed the game and near enough stopped playing out of respect and you could tell that they had.

If you're asking me to choose between a trophy laden team in a state of the art stadium or pissing about in the khazi league travelling to Morecambe, i'm going to have to politely disagree.

Carry on and do what? Keepy ups
on the halfway line. Behave yourself and grow a pair. I've learnt more from losing the odd battle than I ever learnt from winning one.

I didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now ;), De Guzmán scored his second in extra time maybe someone should have told him were not going to humiliate Bradford City.

Carry on and keep playing. If you read it I'm agreeing that teams shouldn't stop, what I was saying is that it does happen.

Some funny comments on here feck me!:joy:

Imagine hypothetically next season were against bottom of the league, and go 3 up at half time. Boys don’t disrespect these plucky underdogs, go easy next half.

60th minute the plucky underdogs score a goal and gain confidence, 80th minute 3-2. Suddenly we’re hanging on for promotion because we’ve stopped trying, guess what happens next!

Thankfully professional sport is never played in that way, it’s more disrespectful to not try and patronise opposition than to go full out for the win as any respectable sports man does.

It's not the colloseum in Rome. Thumbs up thumbs down job. If you're miles above your opposition, give them a good hiding.
