I agree to a number of valid points you make. For me it is not about where we are in the league which is ridiculous to even take that into account this early. However, the performances has been dreadful and not just this year. We don’t attack teams it is slow pragmatic football. I like us to attack and try and score, and we just don’t. If we had attacked Carlisle over the two matches I am convinced it would have been a different outcome. I just can’t see us getting into the auto’s or even the playoffs tbh.

I'm not suggesting Moore was the better player, I'm just giving the information and the figures he asked for which I don't think we're unrealistic to expect imo.

Unfortunately, this absence of attack focused footie and a reliance on the slow build up from defence is a key part of Hughes' mindset. It's what he's learned as a PL manager where this chessboard approach is widespread. They break slowly from the back waiting for an opening to be exploited. That approach works well at the elite levels where strikers are more lethal than in the lower leagues and openings can be better exploited. But it's not how footie tends to be played at our level. What works higher up the leagues isn't always transferable to the lower leagues. I've expressed my view previously that Hughes doesn't appear to understand this point. Successful managers in the .lower leagues rarely make the transition to the top levels for that same reason.

I had hoped that Hughes would have learned this by now but unfortunately he still hangs onto an approach which may well work at the top level but not at a club which continues to reside in the khazi league. If we are to progress, it will require a different approach which really means with a different manager.

I've no idea who to suggest as the next manager, and won't give it much thought because, under the current regime, they all look doomed to failure anyway.

On another subject, there's one person who impresses me when I listen to him and that's Filipe Morais. When Sparks has cleared this lot out, I'm sure Morais could prove a success in some backroom role. I'm not sure what he's doing now or, indeed, whether he'd be interested. He's articulate, modern, obviously knowledgeable about the game and seems the kind of guy who could motivate and get the best out of those under his direction. He's certainly got the rare attribute of "when he talks, people listen". He seems a switched on guy who's got something about him.

Back when he played for us he was trying desperately to get his team mates to play Premiership football too.

Archie Rhind-Tutt on X: "Great anecdote from Mark Schwarzer this on Mohamed Al-Fayed and the time he nearly fired Mark Hughes, a coach who couldn’t look his players in the eyes. This goes out to fans of Fulham, Stoke, Southampton, Bradford, QPR - anyone who might have been affected tbh @OptusSport https://t.co/TG6ObatoXg" / X (twitter.com)

Clip above is from Schwarzer talking about Hughes time at Fulham. Amazing that he cant look players in the eyes or talk to crowds. There's another in the thread which backs up an interview Brede Hangeland did on Hughes, when he says the senior pros all decided they were going to ignore what Hughes asks and go back to playing like Hodgson did. Cant believe it took Hughes so long to address it, and then be fine with his players just ignoring him.

Yes I watched it. It confirms what I thought and I put in a post on here somewhere. You can tell by his body language he is not comfortable with large groups. I imagine confrontations are also a problem for him. He is an introvert, nothing wrong with that but a football manager needs to communicate to the masses and groups alike. I imagine he is ok in a one to one scenario.

Time for the City players to do the same. Listen to his 'team talk', then play in the way they feel is better.
Take the consequences, if it works great!

Lets just wait until Sheff United sack Heckinbottom & McCall and snap them up.

Since Rupp won't be selling up anytime soon, can we have a 'Next next manager" thread for this time next year? I'll say Cowley for this next one...

Sometimes it stops being a coincidence when every managerial appointment fails, and season goals are never met, year after year, ever since he bought the club.

It is all well and good saying*what about this manager or that manager*, but which manager would actually WANT this job as it seems to be a poison chalice.

Managers relish a challenge. IF we sack Hughes, there will be 50 plus genuine applicants and probably another 5 that are in the trash box. The only reason Warnock has resigned is because he fancies having a couple of months off and coming back to football with us on 5th Feb (otherwise known as "Bradford Sack Another Manager Day")

Warnock has confirmed he isn't going to retire when he leaves Huddersfield on Wednesday. Pretty much need us to complete his Yorkshire bingo card.....

I'm not a fan of sacking managers, especially when you've gone through the amount we have. But to even avoid the conversation, you need to show something on and off the pitch to show you are worth the patience. I fear at the minute we just aren't seeing that from Hughes.

The malaise from the play offs and especially that Banks substitution hasn't gone away. The failed recruitment, the failed tactic switch, the crowds losing interest and little passion or motivation is coming from the camp. I said it last week on another thread but this season, there is something off with this club. Whether its coming from the manager, the ownership, the model, just something isn't clicking at all and you can feel in on the pitch and in the stands. The un-ease isn't good.

Yes there will be plenty of managers applying but for those that have a choice with the unbelievable expectations at this club we will be well down on their list

Imagine if we did the unthinkable and got Warnock as manager. It doesn't get much better than him with the experience and success he has had. We can only dream
