Fitness for me is key at this level. That is at least achievable. We need a fitness coach, if we have one they need a better brief. You need to work your socks at this level, no more puffing and blowing after 60.

we had Bowyer with a decent record Adams with a brilliant record and they failed here past experience counts for nothing. Wellens has done well at some clubs and failed at others. Holden did well at Bristol and poorly at Charlton nobody knows the circumstances he has worked under

We know he's had offers of £8.5m. Maybe Rupp will be 'encouraged' to accept one.
At the moment, there is no urgency. He can hold out for £10/11m.

 

I hope its an announcement today. Saturday sapped a lot of enthusiasm and the mini high of Big Kev’s honeymoon period of results seems nothing but a long distant memory (even though Wrexham was only two weeks ago!).

if it is Holden, let’s welcome him to the club, get behind him and kick on.

The only things holding us back are fitness, motivation and organisation and there is no reason why the new man can’t improve us in all those areas.

we have enough ability in this squad to finish top 7 or top 10 at worst. Some of the summer recruits were sketchy but we still have enough here so let’s stop making excuses (absolutely no danger of relegation as some suggest). Kick on lads.

 

Holden in this afternoon apparently. Just had a bit of a trawl through his Charlton spell. Again, been said before that he was unlucky as the new owners said from the beginning they wanted their own man in and had a complete squad overhaul in the summer but gave Holden a handful of games to get it right.

But during his Charlton spell last season, he started with a 352 possession based tactic and then switched it up to a 433 with a sitting DM and 2 box to box midfielders. He had 26 games with the 433 and the rest were some sort of wing back tactic but importantly for us, he didn't use a No 10. He had Jack Payne and used him more as a CM than a 10, only starting with a 10 twice. After the overhaul, he tried a 5 at the back again to start the season before going back to 433 before the sacking. So probably expect one of them to be used. Imagine if everyone is fit it's Smallwood sitting with Gilly and Pattison as the legs in midfield? Looks like he wants pace out wide in his teams.

 

No it just points out that certain managers promise a lot and achieve nothing. Failing to live up to reputations. That’s why as long as they get the right person I don’t mind it taking longer. It would however be nice to have an update

 

No urgency for him personally no. Now this is where ‘professional neglect’ comes in. He has no plans for this club. He has not recruited anyone to put together a strategic plan for the club. Beyond making sure he maximises his investment he does nothing. Rahic was a crook plain and simple So he gets points for putting the money in to keep us going, but you can deduct them for me as he wants it back either now or when he sells so further damaging the club after his partner bled us dry.

Guess it’s finger in the air time then! All I’m saying is personally I’d prefer someone who had success in their CV rather than someone who hasn’t! I’m not saying it’s a done deal if we do as past appointments have proved! I wouldn’t want to be the person in charge of making the decision.

 

I have no idea, hence why it’s not my decision thankfully. Just out of interest would you be happy with Holden?

 

If we have a full fit first eleven with Pattinson and Chapman then we might have enough ability.

 

Holden had a 44% win rate at Bristol city. It ended badly but isn’t that the case at most clubs
