Labour and the Unions did that without a pandemic but without the millions spent, bodies left unburied and bins not emptied with streets full of rubbish.

I'm not talking about now, obviously. I'm talking about how they deal with the situation when the pandemic is over. Of course they're spending trillions now - they have no choice. Whether they've spend it wisely is a whole different discussion.

Well my guess is that they'll look at the books and realise that there's nowt left in the kitty and that we all have to start paying it back, so yes austerity it will/should be, no other way....

They will start to reclaim it back from the poor and working poor no matter who is in power, Having said that the poor and working poor have always been better off under the Tories, Labour make great speeches but do nothing for them in power, The best they did was the minimum wage but even then the Tories have increased it more than Labour would have I suspect, Labour look at policies as what will win votes rather than what is the right thing to do and the electorate see through this

Similarly if Labour deny that there is any pay back needed or that it can just come from the rich while increasing benefits people in the middle won't buy it.

Fully understand all the Keynsian arguments but there has to be something to spend it on and a logical benefit for everyone fully explained.

Blair had the right idea, Promote free enterprise and profits to tax and spend on social needs and invest in public services, Unfortunately the left and Momentum hated this and him and got rid of him as they wanted to nationalise everything

As a party Labour are Dave, they're a busted flush. If they don't know what they stand for how the hell does their potential electorate? I said before, and was questioned, that Labour jointly responsible for any mees their supporters percieve us to be in. And I was right. They and they alone have allowed the Tories free reign to do as they wish because their constant infighting and backbiting has led the British public to have no faith in them being in power. And let's face it, if you look at that opposition bench in the house you'd be mad to vote for them, it's worse than City's bench pre January.

They're really struggling to gain traction with their messaging and they're falling into the path of being Utopian idealists again which is always their downfall.

Over the last couple of months they've pushed for

    • Longer and higher furlough
    • More business support
    • Increased wages for NHS staff
    • The increase in universal credit to be made permanent
All of them are fine and noble but they don't resonate with people that aren't already dyed in the wool Labour supporters, especially when they bring nothing to the table which offsets these. It doesn't strike people in the centre as being logical.

Even to the point where they were pushing back against an increase in corporation tax - a policy that has actually been at the heart of a lot of their policies for years! Until they can actually bring arguments to the table above and beyond "we want more for everybody!!" then they're just going to flounder regardless of what the Tories do.

And don't forget Starmers rant at PM'Q's re the poor people of Yemen 'cos apparently we have cut their aid from us by half...!!
So what, it's a shame but we are not responsible for the welfare of the whole planet, hardly anyone in the UK would give this a second thought...

They keep changing the leader but in the face of an apparent shambles of a Tory party actually manage to go backwards. Just a quick look through the various political threads on social media will tell you why more and more people find them unelectable. Even now they're still infighting themselves to defeat, theres too many agendas and not enough supporters to go round. The Tories must be pissing themselves, its gonna get to the stage where they don't even have to do an election campaign. Just let the others destroy themselves.

What I don't understand is how his line of thought gets put to to one side so easily. It's not even a difficult question!

If Labour believe that the wage rise should be 4% or whatever then just say it......and then explain how it is possible to pay for it.

The issue as always in that the Unions are pushing for the ridiculous (12%!) which is impossible to justify or cost. It puts Starmer in a completely impossible position which is losing his already wafer thin credibility.

Did anyone see the Labour MP Nadia Whittomes interview on TV today? Wouldn't condem the violence against the police today, do Labour choose these MPs to make them completely unelectable to the general public?

Nothing like Israel and Palestine conflict to drag out the far left of the Labour party.

Clearly this was the working mans greatest concern when they were knocking on doors in Hartlepool.

I have no doubt there are many there concerned with the situation, however it would be naive to ignore that some are simply there because they harbour anti semitic views and they can hide behind the conflict to express them. After all they never come out for others such as the Uyghurs on China, however if that was repeated in Isreal they no doubt would be out.

My grand daughter was allowed to leave school early yesterday as the school had been told there could be a pro Palestine rally.
We were discussing the vaccination program in the UK and I forget who it was who said we should stop vaccinating our own population and give the vaccine to poorer countries and allow them to be protected, and passed the comment India had 1.3 billion population just how long would it take to vaccinate their entire population, its heart breaking to see whats happening there but like it or not sadly it's something the world will have to live with.

The aid budget should be abolished it actually makes things worse as they rely on aid instead of self improvement, After all why work hard to produce food when it is given for free, We should just have a disaster fund for specific events, We should avoid using international charities who will waste the money rather than use it for relief, Look at the Haiti earthquake in 2010 for an example of how they use your money including 4 star hotels and prostitutes while not improving the disaster for the people,
