made lots of mistakes and doesnt always help himself but the guy doesnt deserve stuff like this. agree with him or not he's been a member of the party for over 50 years, so to be hounded out as a racist because its suits starmer to look like hes making a clean break with corbyns era isn't right to me. clearly there's a problem in the party however I do think a wider conversation needs to happen about speaking about the state of israel vs judaism itself. a lot of the anti semitism stuff seems to come from reactions to left wing people making pro palestine comments and critisizing the state of israel etc rather than just straight up hatred.

I think his suspension is more to do with his denial of the problem in the Labour Party.
The investigation only looked at about 70 of the complaints logged and found interference with about a third of those. Then there was two cases of harassment with another 18 there or there about. Added on the lack of training given after all the leadership statements about it being a priority.
But Corbyn wasn’t suspended for leading any of that but his claims that the problem wasn’t that bad. If there was evidence of a third of all police investigations having been interfered with he would be rightly shouting about it and calling out anyone claiming it wasn’t a real problem

I think thats an area where he's not helped himself at all but I would have just had him in to speak about and made sure the reports recommendations were implemented in full. kicking him out just feels like a case of optics rather than tackling the issue.

I do just want to stress I dont hold any antisemitic opinions myself and I'm against hating people for who they are no matter what form that takes. I'm not seeking to condone anything the report found was a failing, i just disagree with how starmers gone about his reaction to it.

The sooner Corbyn has nothing to do with Labour the better, I was against him becoming Leader as he is just plain unelectable which meant that millions of poor and working class families would not be represented and at the mercy of Tory governments, Those who supported him have to accept that they are responsible for letting down the traditional Labour voter, Starmer needs to build a cross section of society that will support Labour and social equality and getting rid of an exreme left leader is a good start,

You're wrong, it is straight up hatred, the left just don't like people with money, politics of envy and all that...

The Jeremy Corbyn stuff will only cause a problem if they actually dismiss him and then all the younger end voters who were inspired by him could actually cause a split.

The real issue will be if Len McCluskey makes similar comments to Corbyn - we know he has the same outlook from what he has said previously - and then what happens from there. That's the real split that Labour can't afford.

Len McCluskey appears to be standing behind Corbyn , Unite ( the union i'm in) are talking about withdrawing funding from Starmer and the Labour party , this could be the start of the break up , Labour need to cut the shackles with Corbyn - his ideals and supporters + of course Momentum to have any chance of forming a government .

Len McCluskey needs to be careful, He is a leader of a trade union and as such needs to represent ALL his members, If he does not he can be replaced by his membership, He will put his own interest first and make threats but will let it go in his own self interest,

I'm not a fan of Corbyn but the anti-Semitism charges against him are ridiculous. For some reason, there seems to be certain Jews in the UK population who want to protect Israel's zionist agenda (Rachel Riley for example) so turn any criticism of Israel's politics into claims of antisemitism which is ridiculous. There is a massive difference with having issues with a political ideology and having issues with all people of a religion . The religion shouldn't be able to be used as a shield against controversial politics, we should be allowed to be critical of any countries politics. After all, while all zionists maybe jews not all jews are zionists, it would be like claiming being Anti-Trump makes you anti-christian.

The crazy thing is the person behind Zionism didn't even want the state of Isreal to be where it is now, he realised that Jews have never been the dominate people in that region (even in the various holy books they are always portrayed as a minority group who are persecuted and are largely nomadic because of that) and as all 3 of the major religions all hold it as sacred land it would be massively problematic, he favoured Argentina, where there was/, is lots of land that is basically uninhabited and would hence cause conflict. As it was we let Jewish Terrorist force us to gift them what is modern Isreal and then they proceeded to be bullies, annexing land as they see fit and acting like they are superior to the rest of the Middle-east which is a big reason they are pretty much treated as part of Europe in a number of walks of life. The majority of the Israeli population (and actually most jews) have no more Middle-eastern heritage than anyone else which makes their claims to the land even more suspect, Judaism didn't really take off until it reached Europe and as such most modern Jews are about as European in heritage as they come. That's why they relate more to Europeans and why they gravitate to being part of Europe and not part of the middle east because they, in general, they share more culture with Europeans than the middle-east. Imagine how much better this would could be if extremists hadn't hijacked the Zionist movement and they had got their land elsewhere where there was less chance of conflict rather than getting it where they did where they just act as a schoolyard bully

Your analysis is spot on. It's sickening to see people who, quite reasonably criticise Israel's illegal land grabs and apartheid approach to Palestinians labelled as anti-Semitic.

Corbyn isn't anti-Semitic and he is correct that the impression given by the press that the LP is riddled with large numbers of antisemites is a politically motivated smear. However, there is a small, hardcore, vocal anti-Semitic minority on the furthest left end of the party who have made life miserable for some Jewish members. Corbyn dithered about dealing with that minority, probably because they were his supporters, and stood back while his senior appointees meddled and fudged investigations into legitimate complaints.
It was perfectly obvious to anyone with half a brain that the LP needed to respond to the recent damning report by saying 'mea culpa' and making a clean break from that period. By quibbling and seeking to minimise his previous (in)actions Jeremy Corbyn has compromised the necessary clean break message and put his own interests ahead of those of the party.

There is certainly a distinction to be made between being anti-Israeli state for all sorts of reasons and being anti-semitic. Unfortunately there are some in the Labour party who cannot draw that distinction and their position in Corbyn's cabal (I'm referring here to the likes of Milne, Murphy and Murray) seems to have given free rein to others to being anti-semitic. Ask Margaret Hodge and Luciana Berger, both Jewish MPs at the time, how they were treated personally by members of the PLP and some of the leadership. And Corbyn did nothing to stamp on this despite him being anti-racist.

Unfortunately Shami Chakrabarti when she conducted her review on behalf of Corbyn of Labour party 'ant-semitic' processes, gave the leadership the green light by saying their processes were robust and there had only been a few examples of anti-semitic behaviour in the Labour party. For that she was elevated to the Lords. Now the independent EHRC contradicts that review and I was pleased to hear that Starmer was accepting in its entirety, agreeing to its recommendations and trying to draw a line under it. Corbyn flaunted that and I believe deliberately to create some kind of rallying call for his followers. As you say, he was more concerned with his own position than he party he says he hsa supported for 50+ years. I heard that McCluskey has now shifted his position and tacitly criticising Corbyn for his inital response.

I really hope that Corbyn isn't contrite about his remarks and finds himself isolated inside or outside his party with just a few of his inner circle. That might provide what this country has been lacking for several years now and that is a viable and potentially electable opposition.

I agree with most of that. I have to admit that I don't like Margaret Hodge. She's too closely aligned to those who think any criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic for my liking.

Corbyn is so pro Palestine that it blinds him to antisemitism in his own party, He purposely or otherwise blocked or ignored all complaints of antisemitism while he was leader leading to his right demise,
Corbyn has openly called Hamas his friends and applauded there work despite the stated aim of Hamas is the complete destruction of the state of Isreal and the extinction of the Jewish people, How can you support such a view and not be antisemitic, He is a very dangerous man,

Was, I actually feel we're safe from him now, but the ignorance of a swathe of youth brought us closer to him having any power than was comfortable...

Now i can't say i'm James O'Briens biggest fan but the stick he's getting today for essentially been spot on right is laughable. The overall point he's making is completely missed by the loony left in that if they don't all come together united behind whoever is leader Labour will never get back into power. Sad to see our only viable alternative to the conservative party effectively eat itself from within. So many warring factions within Labour, all with their own hidden agendas and thirst for power will determine the Tories will yet again not even have to turn up to the next election to win.

Labour has never supported or represented the poor, unemployed, disabled or pensioners, They are at last realising this and voting elswhere, Labour has in the past had an interest in keeping people poor as it keeps thier support base.

At first I thought Starmer would make a good opponent but it appears he needs a personality transplant. He is also trying bridge the unbridgeable divide between wings of his party. He needs to do what Blair did take the left on and build a party that is competent with a social conscience.
Weak opposition leads to weak government
