I went to Highfield Secondary then to Fairfax. It could have been Horsfall.

Richard Dunnes still sat there, decrepid and doing nothing. It took Bradford Live the best part of 15 years to come to fruition and Broadway around 10 years to complete so maybe there is some hope for 2035.

Has anyone heard anything in terms of updates? Last update was Sparks trying to meet with the council. It seems such a plausible and workable idea (get Bulls to share) but so pie in the sky too....and it is Bradford CC I blame for that.

There isn’t a Metro or C/ Council in the country that’s not strapped for cash after 15 years of being underfunded . Bradford isn’t any different. That’s not politics rather, fact. If it’s a choice of some remaining public services then we have to be realistic where the money is spent.

City couldn’t fund it, Council can’t fund it and a private developer would charge us £1m in yearly rent…….Nothing wrong with WHG , it’s not important . I wouldn’t share a bag of crisps with the Bulls, sad to say they are stoney .

Horsfall was generally Bradfords annual sports location for the school championships , but I’ve also participated at the BPA cricket ground, which would be the 60’s .

Bradford CC are a waste if time and always have been ...........any major City in the Uk would have developed Odsal decades ago but not this one ..........we build a brand new shopping complex ( Broadway ) and we basically d3stroy the rest of town with it.

It will be an idea that all parties are on board with, but nobody will want to fund. Just to flatten Richard Dunnes will be a pretty penny.

I like the idea of Richard Dunne being developed into a City Training ground.
However as has been pointed out the Council are strapped for cash (as are most).
I would have thought a nominal ‘peppercorn’ rent of say £1 a year for something like a 100 year lease (with an option to extend) for the plot would be a way forward.
If the Club could develop a plan whereby the site could also be used by the residents of Bradford and/or the University, then perhaps some Grants could be attracted (if the ridiculous Thornton Road Cycle Highway which is a proverbial white elephant, could attract £12 million of Government funding…….).
Having said that wonderful training facilities do not guarantee success. Smallwood talked up Tranmere, who are currently 16th in League Two and MK Dons are hardly ripping the League Two up.

Well it has the foundations, the Dome is there. Has it been gutted or just left as it was? Youd think the gym areas, offices and changing rooms would just need modernising and the swimming pool area would be the main change required.

Well that's just it - similar to Leeds. Spent millions on things folk didn't ask for but helping local sports grow, and supporting grass roots is just something that has always been alien to Bradford CC. That said, present it as an opportunity to help the local kids, more so the Asian community, get into football and you may just see the cash role in....

It's just left to ruins I believe? I was a member of that gym maybe 13/14 years back for a year or so and it needed some work then. Weights and cardio areas weren't big enough really if you have 25+ lads trying to use it at once, never mind if you also have to share times with the youth teams or Bulls if the idea ever took off. It would need huge modernisation really. Pool gutting out and just being made to a standard pool? Outdoor pitches too over the gravel.

I bet it's a right state inside. Didn't someone try set fire to it a few years back and damage the roof?

Councils in çrtain places take pride in there teams are sadly doesnt :(

60 or so years ago it had two pro football team
Country cricket played within this City
    A decent rugby league side
    2 greyhound tracks.

Out of the 6 listed it has two .........now dont get me wrong it aint all on the council but they aint helped either.

Honestly unless City are to plough millions into Richard Dunnes then just forget it

Btw dont be decked if it aint turned into a place of worship btw

Yes I can imagine....I guess I was saying the 'areas' are there in terms of layout so new flooring etc required, not so much building work.

Yeh a standard pool, and you could use the rest of the space for an indoor football court for drills etc when the weather is shit.

There was a programme on Radio 4 I heard recently bemoaning the modern trend of boring soulless architecture and arguing for ordinary people to campaign for fewer drab buildings. The guy narrating it cited Richard Dunn Centre as an example of how modern architecture can be interesting and doesn’t have to be flat and boring.
He was proclaiming the listing of Richard Dunn as an important victory that has ‘saved it for the nation’. I agree with his general point about flat boring buildings, but he didn’t mention that the interior of RD is outdated and in disrepair. He completely failed to address the issue that it needs millions spending on it, which the council doesn’t have, to make it useable again. Nor did he consider that, without ongoing maintenance, it will just become more and more shabby and decrepit. How will that be a ‘national treasure’?

It had a small indoor 5 a side court already there but yeah would need more. making. As others have said, its a shame a building of that size with the bare bones already there ready to go, but nobody will foot the bill. Never know, there could be a Bradfordian Euromillions winner around the corner!

I'd welcome us moving to a proper facility at some stage. It's not a huge priority as Woodhouse is filling a need, but my holdup with Woodhouse is the professionality of it all. Cant look great pulling up through school gates to a pro footballer.

There's no way that last image is a mock up of a Bradford car park..... all the cars are actually parked between the white lines rather than across two bays :p

Doesn’t seem to be having a negative impact on team spirit at the moment though
