New Training ground at Richard Dunn’s

Go past the fire station on Huddersfield road, past Sedbergh boys club and its just past that on the left.

 

Thanks RT , was it a boxing club ? The name rings bells but I can’t place it. Why when RD was up the road?
I’m lost with timescales tbh.,

 

I must have passed it hundreds of times when the wife worked in the press office at Mintex .

 

Basically it’s around the back of Osdal Fire Station. But you access it on the road down from Odsal top/Bradford Bulls.

it’s a good place. I go to the gym there. The one at Dunn’s looked to be falling in bits. Few hard indoor sports courts and several grass pitches outside for rugby and footy.

Thanks BL , yes I know where the fire station is, I’m with you now. I venue I never saw tbh, as I was brought up the other side of the City . Thanks for putting me right.

 

That’s still open on Huddersfield road. Our two sons were school boy boxers at Sedburgh ‘Bradford Golden Gloves’ in the 70s , and Granddaughter ran a dance club there not long ago.

I am nearly sure we used to have school sports days at Sedburgh? It has been awhile so could be wrong.

 

I was a pupil at "Scott's" school on Cleckheaton Road. We had school dinners on the site where the sports centre now stands. Seem to think it was part of a school for the deaf?

 

Scott’s Porridge we called it. I went to Raw Nook and we had school dinners there too !!!

 

Our school sports days were at Horsfall, which seems to be busy all year round now
