Therein lies the issue. If the allotments and cricket ground are sacrosanct, then the scope to develop the site may well be limited.
I guess the issue is, which is better to the City as a whole, could then come into play.
The current deteriorating centre, with the increasingly waste land, or determine that development benefits, outweigh’s the losses.

Smallwood being the latest now surly just makes you wonder why he stayed so long if the training ground was so bad.

I think it is South Yorkshire Mayor so it is funding that is coming from the transport and regeneration fund so takes cash away from roads, rail , cycle lanes etc. West Yorkshire are going for trams instead which bits of Sourh Yorkshire already have.

From what I saw yesterday though Leeds/Bradford airport are looking into if it is a subsidy so could be classed as anti competitive

Heard this morning for a customer who said he is ITK, that the old school buildings on Tong street are possible new training venues. Not sure what the situation is with them or who owns them but plenty big enough I think if Mr Rupp really wants to create a training centre.

Did you ask them when Santa was flying past as well?

The old Yorkshire Martyrs building is owned by brothers Atsham, Azhar and Imran Al-Haq, who own Batley company Apollo Beds. They bought it from the Catholic Church when the school closed down for a substantial amount of money so I can not see them selling it cheaply. Then there would be substantial costs associated with dismanteling the current buildings that have asbestos in them and are damaged by numerous fires. Added on to that the rebuild costs and the access issues, eg the main access being through Tong School, which only just worked when both sites were schools never mind if the second site was not a school.

    More chance with Richard Dunns

Not much room to do anything there.

Exactly. They are limited in growth and goods because their catchment is so tiny . Maybe their best hope is someone like FGR , but scope is limited for sure.

No I don’t sorry , I’ll ask the grandsons over Xmas though . Clubs can afford to do that with earned parachute payments and going into £100 million in debt getting them into the Prem then it getting wiped out leaving them debt free as part of a takeover from Evans . It’s a cruel world . ;)

I think the bit that might be of interest is that they think it will cost 2.5 million. That's way less than some of the figures that have been bandied about for a new training ground for City.

In that Division it’s a money pit for sure.

I'm struggling to see what £2.5 million gets you. Is that including the purchase.of the land as well?

I think as sport changes from it's working class routes a lot of clubs will need to look at their facilities, especially around the corporate sector.

No , the land will remain in the hands of Whetherby Racecourse Ltd . Club arnt funding a great deal of it, council are, as it’s a shared community asset , so they will have to book it around the Fog and Ducks fixture list ;)

Ipswich do that . I’ve been to several railway staff events and corporate training held at the ground , Norwich have similar facilities too .

The land is part of Wetherby racecourse,so they could be renting the land.
