Yeah I'd agree with that. Unless its a lower weekly salary in lieu of a 2 year deal....

I think he'd be a good signing. Not as good as 2-3 years ago obviously, but he's a very experienced and strong forward. I could see him chipping in with 10-15 goals and importantly, he could make a massive difference to Doyle's game.

Good point. And I don't think he's had many injury problems.

 

A plus for me, is that we're getting our business done early. Bowyer wanted the bulk of his business done before pre-season - which always makes sense, but in the context of the rebuild we need, its particularly important. It looks as though he's being backed, and I'd expect another couple of deals done next week.

 

The other half as just said, he is not a prolific goal scorer, but great positional striker holds the ball up well and generally bring other players into play. A cautious thumbs up lol

 

I'm not too fussed about his age, aslong as he's still capable, and if he's been playing Championship football* until now you'd like to think he could still do it in League Two.



* - that was with Parky though who'll sign any tall striker that gives him the time of day.

Not really. Henley doesn't have loads to prove, GB knows him so knows what he is capable of. He'll also be on a lot less than Donaldson, is 10 years younger and could potentially be with us for 2/3/4 years.

Remember we are now in League 2, these players we are signing do not really have to prove anything, they just have to play at a decent standard to get us out of this league.

I'll give you the experience though that Donaldson has.

 

Peter Thorne was haggered when we signed him, but had the class and quality.

Both Ishmail and Henley have plenty to prove that’s why they are on 1 year deals

 

Good shout. He came at a similar age and after a similar spell in the championship - i.e. back end of his career, goals had dried up, legs 'gone' but used his nous to show real value in a lower league.

Mobility and supply from the wings this year, getting the ball into the box for Donaldson and Doyle... we could a bloody lot worse

 

He’s scored 199 goals in just over 600 games so that makes him a 1 in 3 striker.

 

Can I just point out amongst all the comments, that a certain Mr C Donaldson has yet to sign for BCFC...
