I think they are vertical stripes. It is an identity, which says Bradford City to me. I know there are some on here who would prefer a white kit, but the colours are unique. In respect of stripes, then both Sheffield clubs have played with stripes during their existence. Notts County one of the oldest clubs in the world have stuck with stripes. For me City are Claret and Amber stripes.

    I need a coffee. Vertical...

Sheff Wed lost their stripes a couple of kits recently.

Claret and amber a must but ive no issue moving away from vertical stripes now and again. Weve had various kits over the years without them. Our first 25 years only saw 5 years of vertical stripes!!!

Throughout our history id say less than 50% of our kits were vertical claret and amber stripes. Im not sure where this obsession comes from. Claret and Amber as a rule but stripes are not a rule in terms of tradition.

Is that Triton on a Birmingham shirt? I quite like it!

Altho it has good memories, I didn't really like the "hooped" shirt. Same with that chequerboard one we had - was interesting, but not "us". If we stick to claret and amber stripes, with black shorts, then we're instantly recognisable. No need to mess around, as has been said, with stupid fade ins and bleeds. Its just doing something for the sake of it.

Knowing that Spark's likes to create impact and statement, I'm thinking this seasons kit is going to be a bit different.

I prefer them mixing it up. Boring if its the same style kit every damn season. Doesnt help sales if it isnt unique....

The chequerboard was possibly the worst shirt we've ever had. The chequerboard was bad enough on its own but the hideous fade out made it look like a dog's breakfast - utterly hideous.
By all means play around with the away shirts but leave the stripes alone. I know we haven't always had stripes but it's become our identity and we should own and be proud of it. Change the collar shape etc, by all means but leave the stripes alone.

The chequerboard was bad but not as bad as that shite edin designed and dared to call a 'fighting kit'

Funnily enough I didn’t mind the checked kit. We’ve had far worse, all of the shirts when we were sponsored by Map Group were awful, and Edin’s three kits that season were a disgrace.

Personally I liked the hoops made a nice change and they were part of some success.

When he described it as a 'fighting kit' I didn't realise he meant fighting relegation

Maybe chequerboard on the back and hoops on the front would be different :)

Ah but Dave the difference was that one door kn0b picked the team because he knew football whist the other let the two unknowns get on with it
