Is that true? Did not know that, fair play to him if so. I remember in the back 4 against Notts County he looked so poor, then as a LWB in a 5 i've liked what i've seen especially going forward.

I read earlier today that Dave Challinor brought Byrne to 3 different clubs he managed. Not a bad endorsement in my eyes.

Not knowing as much about him as Sarcevic, I will reserve judgement until I've seen him play a few times for us.

Looks like Platt is on his way, Taylor already gone, so still room for hopefully another couple of decent additions to strengthen the central defence.

 

Interesting tidbit, certainly a good character reference.

Is Platt going then? I'm indifferent about him, think he looked all right last season, but I haven't been hugely impressed by his time at City overall. Good enough to keep if he wants to stay, but not good enough to cry over if he leaves.

That's not a bad shout, it would diminish my opinion of Carlisle's scouting credibility though.

 

Gillead didn’t re-sign for City until 27th June last year so I wouldn’t write off Platt until the end of June. If no one better comes in for him why wouldn’t he re-sign for City?

 

That's fine but I'd hope we'd have brought in at least one other by then and if we manage to land two then I'd be withdrawing the offer and saying cheerio.

I'm fine with him doing what's best for him and his career but the club also needs to look after itself and can't hang on endlessly.

Any fan thinking Byrne is here to play back up is mistaken in my opinion.

I reckon he will get the number 5 shirt and is Platt's ready made replacement.
