In March 1968 it was converted into a cabaret club, known as the Lyceum Rainbow Club, and in the 1970’s it became the Talk of Yorkshire, attracting stars such as Tom Jones. In 1980 it became the Broadway Bar, presenting cabaret and disco. By 2004 it had become the 147 Snooker Bar, and the building has been re-named Lyceum House.

 

Yeah that’s the place. Was a decent place for a game of snooker in its day. Staying on topic I’m sure there was a small Morrisons on Killinghall Road? Or was it a Co-Op?

 

A small Tesco Express just above the Green Man at the top of Otley Road but I don't remember a Morrison's down Killinghall Road.

Morrisons have just launched scan and shop where you use your phone to scan your shopping and pack as you go. Then you download the details at the till and pay.

Never done that. How do they know you haven't sneaked an extra tin of beans in?

 

they don’t but it randomly pulls people for either a bag rescan or a full rescan.

if they find anything extra then you are either more likely to get pulled or banned from the system.

Is Scarborough still open?

We stayed up in North Yorks for a week before Covid (2019) , went to Scarborough for the day , I was utterly utterly shocked. It was a dump. It was always well regarded in the 50-70....What the hell has happened.?

 

It’s basically Bradford on sea some nice areas but a lot of deprivation. A bit like a lot of coastal areas these days

 

I was stunned Park as we hadn’t been for 30 years ( moved down south)

A lot of the resorts , as you say , are now shocking. Great Yarmouth, Ilfracombe, to name two we visited 10 years ago.....dire! . I’m not a snob by any means but Blimey O’Reilly.
