The potential new owners are not happy with another about turn by Jason Whittingham:

"All funds advanced to the club – structured as interest-free loans – were provided strictly on the basis of these written assurances.

“It is now clear that such representations were misleading and that we were induced to provide critical financial support under false pretences.

I see that Lizzi Collinge, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, using parliamentary privilege, made these comments last week (quote taken directly from Hansard):

"Until now, I have restrained myself from using the full extent of parliamentary privilege in this matter, because my focus has been on getting the sale done. I have held my tongue while the EFL went through its due diligence process, and I have implored Jason Whittingham directly to just get on with the sale. But my restraint has not produced the progress that I had hoped for, so I now feel duty bound to use parliamentary privilege to lay out what I see.

I suspect that Jason Whittingham has built a house of cards, and it is now falling down around his ears. There is mention of further unspecified investors, even at this final stage, and there is a suspicion that the club is being used to leverage his personal financial situation. Morecambe FC is being held hostage, and it breaks my heart. Morecambe FC is the cornerstone of our community, and what is happening in Morecambe shows exactly why this Bill is needed. The likes of Jason Whittingham should never have been allowed to buy a football club.
    "

Remember that Lizzi Collinge, in laying out what she sees, has the full protection of parliamentary privilege.

I've spoke to a couple of people within football in the last week and both have said they wouldn't be surprised if Morecambe don't start the season never mind end it.

This article includes comments from 2 former directors and covers a lot of what I've heard but seeing it in writing makes it even more real. I don't think anyone has a clue what the motivations of the owner are and why he is basically doing everything he can to kill the club. It is very worrying that tickets for an upcoming friendly against Barrow seem to have been taken off sale, best case that means they don't think the game will go ahead for logistical or player reasons, worst case is that they don't think the club will still be alive in a weeks time. Their season tickets have also been taken off sale which suggests worst case scenario.

There needs to be far more regulation than there is now. This guy must be a nutcase, how can he invest, drive it into the ground and expect to get anything out of it ! Most people can see this, why can't he ! After all it's Bradford by the sea.

Morecambe's home friendly against Barrow on Tuesday has been moved to behind closed doors at 1pm, clearly done by Morecambe to save costs of opening the ground to fans and save on a bit of floodlighting

I don't know if it's true, but the Barrow fans forum correctly predicted it was going to be moved to behind closed doors, giving the reason as it's because Morecambe's ground no longer has a valid safety certificate.

What a depressing read. Basically a club now owned by a bullshitter, trying to be purchased by other bullshitters. Meanwhile club slowly head into oblivion.,

Really hard to see how Morecambe start the season now, their friendly against Barrow has now been cancelled and this new mysterious takeover doesn't seem to be going anywhere. They missed a deadline to pay VAT and PAYE so they will have a big tax bill which will add to the debts and embargos.
Panjab Warriors who were meant to be on the verge of taking over the club are now suing Bond Group and Jason Whittingham.

At this stage it looks like the best case scenario is the club are put into administration and the club can start to move on.

The National league have suspended Morecambe, and their players have been told to go home until further notice. Not looking good at the moment.

The thing that the players will have in their favour is that their unpaid wages are covered by the football creditors rule so money owed to them has to be treated as a priority over non football debts so they should be fine.
The ones who won't be covered are the off field staff like the commercial and ticketing staff who are only covered by standard employment law and often forgotten in all of this

Yes most will find another club, but as a fan what do you do, start watching Fleetwood, Blackpool or Preston, imagine us having the choice of Leeds, Town or maybe the Stans, what a horrible thought.

Most likely scenario by the looks of it is that the supporters board will have a race against time to get phoenix club set up in time to apply to enter the North West Counties league next season and have to start again like Bury and Macclesfield have done. For this season they will probably find a local non-league side like Lancaster City to go watch.
It looks like the ground and surrounding area is protected by the trust from development, if it then that will be a big help for them rebuilding the club.

It's time for Tyson Fury to help his local club.
