No, that's an over simplification. It's been obvious for a long time what this club needs on and off the pitch, and we fail, consistently, to address it. That's why we never go anywhere. We're scrabbling around trying to find a desperately needed striker, when we've know since January we were going to need one. We've needed a strong centre back for about 2 years, still haven't sorted one. Our lack of planning and aggression in recruiting quality players is shocking. That's why we end up in the position we are.

 

You forgot a recognized right back and a ball winning midfield general captain
Complacency is the word you are looking for the club are happy to sell 14000 season tickets and if they read some of the comments from certain posters on here think "all is rosy"
They are stuck in their comfort zone with very little ambition to change things round
What's needed as well as team strengthening is leadership from the top at the moment it seems no one cares enough to drive us forward

 

You are correct but before Teflon talks to anyone he is fully aware of what the budget is, how long he wants to give player x or y a contract for and will have had those conversation with the agents. If he is then talking to people outside of his budget or who want contracts longer than he is prepared to give then he knows full well that he might not get it over the line.

If he hasn't been given a budget then that is a problem up the hierarchy. If he has and can't get the players over the line that it sits at his door.

 

Again lots of assumptions that there is no planning of potential recruits. Thats rubbish to assume no discussions took place over targets.
Now having a list of targets is feasable and approaching them is what I understand we are doing. The fact they are not in the building yet could be down to a multitude of factors. But to somehow think no one is trying is laughable.
I will wait until the transfer window is closed to see what sort of squad we have.
I know we need players in certain positions and so does the club.

 

The proof is in the pudding. And its not just the proof from this season - our recruitment for over 3 years, has been horrendous. In fact, the only period in many years where we’ve seemed anything like competent, was for 2-3 years under Parkinson. Which was clearly down to him. That’s why we lose 5-0 at home to Lincoln, or why we’re losing games to clubs that have only been professional for a handful of years. It’s been obvious for weeks if not months, what this side needs. So either the planning is awful, or the execution is. Now, if we end up pulling 4 quality signings in key areas out of the bag at this point, I’ll dof my cap to the wisdom and patience of Stuart McCall and the club. You’ve heard McCall recently - does he sound like a man who’s composed and confident that the right signings will arrive? Not to me he doesn’t. And history suggests it won’t happen. We need quality and leadership in a couple of key positions, and we need pace, creativity and finishing ability in others. Those players don’t generally move late in the window and if they do, if they are out there and available, I have no confidence in our ability to identify them and even less in our ability to attract them. Which is why they haven’t arrived before now!!

Bottom line - this is the worst Bradford City squad in my living memory, and I’m 40 years old. I can’t remember a worse one.

 

he talks in riddles and seems to forget that everyone can see his record. on the radio just now, he said in terms of squad and bringing people in that he's "had 6 or 7 weeks to look at those we've got here." he's had 7 to 8 months in the job and only 1 of this current squad in new to him - what the hell has he been doing in the months prior to the last 6 or 7 weeks if it's only the last few weeks that he's been sussing them out.

 

Can he give a half time talk to get two goals out of them?

You have some valid points. What a shame you have to spoil it by talking of a City legend in such a derogatory way by calling him 'Teflon'. Despite what your opinion may be of SM, at least pay him some respect. After all, i value his opinion, as a professional footballer and respected manager, above yours.
