Funny enough, I’ve been in contact with them to see if they’re interested in exporting to Estonia. A great historical brewer and one of the big names to come out of Burton. I love the logo and I’m glad they’ve not modernised it too much. They just last week brewed a special 7,2% IPA replicating the beer that used to be shipped to India. Sadly only a few kegs. It’s probably not as hoppy as an American ale, nor the original recipe, but I’m sure it’s better than a few others. Cheers!

Now that I've had a dozen or so bottles, I'd say it's a good session IPA, though it is 5.2%, thanks to being mildly hopped. Maybe I've just become used to the aggressively-hopped examples to be found everywhere over here, but at first I just found it a little lacking in something. I would buy it again though, if/when it shows up here again.

I expect it was costly? They’ve only just started exporting, so it’s nice to see they are getting distribution. They have a few others in their range too.

Yes, $4.75 per bottle, or roughly 3 pounds / 3.50 euros. So far it's the only one the Commission has brought in; I wouldn't mind trying the others as well. I see I was wrong about the strength; it's actually 5.6%.

I'm opening a new bar here in Tallinn. Been in the process a long long time, but trying to find builders who can build within my budget, on top of trying to find actual builders, has made it a headache. I thought the corner had turned, and with that in mind, I made myself a vow that the next alcoholic drink I'd have, would be in the new place when it opens. That was TWO MONTHS ago! I've stuck to it, and tbh feel great (not to mention lost 4kg). Really don't want to think what the stress of this whole project would be like with a few hangovers thrown in. At this point in time, looking like it's going to be another two weeks before I can take that pint. It will taste especially sweet, as we'll be the first bar ever in Estonia to serve cask ale. It's the thought of that, which is preventing me from becoming teetotal 100%! In the meantime, keep posting nice pics of beer, and I'll taste and cheers you virtually :)

I don't know if tea, however strong, will be enough today...although I will be having some Yorkshire Gold later on. But otherwise, what more appropriate for a refined fool than one (or more) IPA's from a brewery that specialises in IPA's, the Refined Fool Brewery (another Ontario Craft Brewer):

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

They produce these weird and wonderful brews, well-hopped, strong, and every now and again make up a 6-pack of current offerings.

Back from visiting family and just opened this little beauty, a mini cask of Thornbridge Jaipur IPA 5.9%, some for tonight and some to 'celebrate / drown my sorrows' with tomorrow.

If you have any spare casks you don't know what to do with, I'll be glad to take them off your hands...

Funny enough, I’m very proud to have taken delivery of, and tapped the very first cask ale in Estonia, which happens to be Jaipur. My new bar opens on Monday, and I’m looking forward to wowing the locals with “warm, flat beer”. Absolutely confident it’ll be a great success.

What? People are allowed out in snowy weather? Scandalous.

Good luck with the new bar though.

    (Soovin sulle) Õnne ja edu!

(There might be a more modern idiom for wishing you good luck and success, but my Esto. is that of 90 years ago!)

Will it be called the Õllevaat? ("Beer keg") -- Seeing as you've done "Drink" and "Bottle" :)

There's a nice clip of a bloke skiing down Lühike Jalg (Short Leg) in Tallinn after the recent snowstorms. It's a very narrow, steep "street" -- one side cobblestoned slope, other side steps with larger paving-stone bits in between, with an almost right-angled bend at the bottom -- connecting the Old Town to Toompea Hill. Get it wrong and that gallery window at the bend is just waiting for you...

You doing it as Gravity, rather than through a pump with a sparkler for a nice tight creamy head!:OO:

Sent your pictures through to my daughter and her husband in San Francisco! If you can do it so can they.

    Congratulations. Hope it sells well.

I’ve got these beauties. Also trying out a “vortex” sparkler, which is meant to give the ultimate tight creamy head. I am a Yorkshireman after all ;)

Excellent. I challenged my son in law to get a barrel to his local in San Francisco!;) https://monaghanssf.com/ I said if you could, he could. He suggested you could just drive it over!!! I am sure you will have a freight system in place.

If he provides full bed and board, I think we can arrange something. Ps I’ve got three kids, so we’ll need a suite.

New Year's Day, thus a bubbly. A good match and win just makes the dinner all that much better!

Featherstone, again; blanc des blancs, classic method, 2016. Very nice indeed, with a Kurdish chicken stew and Kurdish yellow rice.
