Don’t know if it works like that wasn’t the late Caroline Flack on an assualt charge and her victim didn’t want it to go forward and it still did ????
If there is enough damning evidence he ain’t gonna walk away from this Scot free especially in this day and age

 

At the very least, the point of not playing this out via social media is a sound one.

 

You seriously think it was just a few vids and a recording ????? If he has done it there will be a lot more evidence phone messages etc and even if the CPS don’t go ahead do you really think Man U or the sponsors will want him there on the back of this ????? Looking at the Man U forums a fair few who work within the law reckon he’s seriously in a lot of bother ............I seriously doubt that her phone was hacked I think someone within her circles may have known what was going on and leaked it out there ................ if this has gone in for months then maybe the poor lass was terrified and was to scared to do anything .......... maybe someone went out and acted in her defence ....... we don’t know the real ins and outs but something clearly wrong has happened to that lass

 

God know just see what happens over the next few days .............

 

I think your commentary on this is rather odd to be honest.

Only 1.6% of rape allegations result in a charge being made. Not a conviction, a charge. Think about that. It’s no wonder women don’t go to the police, especially if their alleged assailant is wealthy, powerful, famous or all three.

A victim doesn’t make the decision to press charges, the CPS do. She can withdraw the allegations but the case can continue even if the victim doesn’t want it to if there is a reasonable chance of a conviction and it is the public interest to do so.

 

The thing that strikes me is, no sooner has this girl come forward with these allegations via social media than her father has come out with the most unbelievable statement imaginable.

Read between the lines here:

‘She has told us her phone has been hacked. We told her to take it down, which she has done but it’s out there now so it is too late."

‘She is devastated because she didn’t want it released. We have known him since the under 21s. He has been part of our family for two or three years."

Does this not read like "No sooner have I found out about this than I've told her she's made a terrible mistake, take that down at once, you're ruining your (my) meal ticket, Mason's a lovely lad and a big part of our family (and my plans)".

I mean, I might be completely out of order here, but he sounds like a bloody apologist who's shitting himself because they're potentially ruining Mason Greenwood's career - when it actuality, it's Mason Greenwood that's potentially ruined his own career, and hopefully justice will be done.

But it's all right people sitting back and saying "go through the proper channels, go to the police", well frankly if that's the level of support your own Dad is giving you, what choice do you have? "Shut up darling, he's rich".

Again, I might be totally out of order here, I don't know her or her Dad, but his statement is really, really worrisome to me. Completely out of order to talk about how he's part of the family and that he told her to take the story down. He sounds utterly clueless.

 

Also, as far as that statement from her Dad goes, she's doubled down on her Facebook page and posted about domestic violence and shown another picture of bruises.

So her Dad is clearly talking out of his arse.

 

I agree. I read that statement from her old man, and then had to read it again.

There’s a lot more to this than meets the eye I feel.

Released on bail, but not yet charged. Further investigation needed. Imagine a scenario though, where he isn't actually charged, but there's a minefield of content on social media that appears to indict him on some very serious offences. What the hell happens then?

 

The police need to find enough evidence to persuade the CPS there is a reasonable prospect of a conviction. If there isn’t sufficient to persuade the CPS the. a case will be dropped for lack of evidence and the police will say that.

You look at how long Tyrell Robinsons’ case took to arrive at charges and you can imagine they’ll look for solid evidence. If the police can’t find the evidence then I imagine it’s up to the previously accused to handle the fall out. Michael Barrymore springs to mind in that example.

Without speaking about any case in particular I imagine the amount of stuff on social media makes a defence solicitor’s job easier, they can point to it being impossible to get a fair trial. And a fair trial is a foundation of our system.

 

Could end up in similar situation to the bloke in Scotland who was never charged but sued by the victim
