Main Strikers lack of goals

No bad thing spreading goals around and not relying on just one or two players. It’s also important to note that a lot of us at the start of the season thought we’d be in trouble if anything happened to Vaughan, he’s not started the last 2 and we’ve won so that’s a good sign imo.

 

Yep, I was one. And, partly, because of injuries/suspension to JV I suggested a 10-12th finish. I'm glad to date, that I am being proved wrong.

I’m afraid it is, it was posted the other day, he is the most accurate crosser in all four divisions with anyone who has 30+ crosses this season. Did i just hear the toilet flush fordy?

 

He hit 29 in the 2010/11 season for Crewe (League 1).

24 in 2012/13 for Brentford (League 1)

18 in 2013/14 for Brentford (League 1)

16 in 2014/15 for Birmingham (Championship)

Recent years, hasn’t been so prolific.

 

Then there really is no excuse for missing sitters like he has done this season. I expect better from him.

 

Think thats why we got him on a one year contract! If we go up he wont be a first teamer.

This isn't something which overly concerns me at this stage of the season. Teams with a prolific scorer can be overly reliant on that individual and I like that our team seem to have goals throughout the team.

I'd be surprised if Vaughan and Donaldson didn't both make double figures this season.

 

Seems to me that either can lead to promotion...at least, it's worked that way with us. Considering League goals only, we've done it with two 20+ goal men (1907/8), one 20+ goal man (28/9, 81/2, 84/5, 98/90), and no 20+ goal men (68/9, 2012/13, 76/7, 95/6). Put another way, we've achieved promotion with 4 scorers in double figures (1907/8, 28/9), three (76/7, 81/2, 98/9), two (2012/13), one (68/9, 84/5) and none (95/6).

(That 95/6 season was different; we certainly spread the goals around very well.)

Hasn't Donaldson had something like 3 goals disallowed too? He's definitely been unlucky at times on top of the sitters he has missed.

 

I think we'd all like the strikers to be banging them in
every game and giving our goal difference a boost
but as most have said,who scores doesn't matter
and it makes it harder for the opposition knowing
We have potential scorers all over the pitch!I
