When you say struggling it doesn’t look like many seats are available, probably less than 400, and they have only just gone on general sale today. There is a lot of block G left and then not much else.

 

Dont think anyone is looking forward to this game as much as me. Born a Red, bred a Bantam. CTID and for a brilliant cause. Stephan Darby baby oooooh

It was my understanding that not all blocks were available to purchase straight away, and that they have sold just over 2,000 so far. Could be wrong.

 

Looking on their website blocks A,B,F & G are on sale now which weren't on sale yesterday so suggests that they've been selling from the middle out so sold out C,D,E however much they hold.

 

Circa 650 per block.

 

I think everyone should embrace this match as it was originally designated: the match will be a fund raising exercise for a charity that is investing into the research for MND. This came about after our very own Stephen Derby was diagnosed with this horrible disease which is life limiting. Stephen comes from Liverpool, and played for them. Obviously he is one of our hero’s as well, so it seemed the best thing we could do was have a friendly between the two club in order to raise the money. At the time Liverpool had not won the European Cup, but in my view this has added interest in the match. Nevertheless, this is still a friendly and the purpose of the match the same.

I cried when I heard of his diagnosis, it just upset me, I had a family member who died of this disease.

This argument about whether ppl are coming and wearing red shirts in the Bradford end is completely irrelevant and trivial. If ppl can try to remember the purpose of the match and that all bets are off on this match, previous or current resentments should be put aside, if it sells out we have achieved maximum support for what we wanted to achieve. Of course ppl will enjoy the match, no reason why we shouldn’t but I would just hate to see resentment being displayed. It will be an emotional match, as Stephen will be there if he is well enough. I would also like to think that both sets of fans can mix happily with one another.

 

@Onside I think your post is spot on. I am attending. My son also a season ticket holder cannot attend as he is at a festival that weekend. Instead I am bringing with me a good friend who is a locally based Liverpool fan who doesn't normally get to see the team she supports. She won't be wearing a Liverpool shirt, but she certainly knows who Stephen Darby is and wants to support this great charitable cause too. I can't see anything wrong with that and I would be amazed if there was any trouble at this match on account of the respect in which Darby is held.

 

If anyone is concerned about a "red" being sat next to them, offer a hand shake and welcome them to v.p. Simple really.

 

Ifs buts and maybes FB, what is not in doubt is it’s for a great cause.

Not sure why people think it will be full of City/Liverpool fans, we sold 12k to season tickets holders, many of which wanted an extra ticket, plus the non season ticket casual city fan, even if these people have a second team, surely that doesn’t matter when you support city first and foremost, might be a few reds dotted around but who really cares given it’s a friendly for charity

Liverpool have been given 4302 tickets according to their website so not full capacity then.

As you’ll probably know, the MR capacity is just under 4,500. 200 seats left for segregation/policing purposes.

 

add on to that when more than half of their first team will / may well be missing.. there’ll be some disappointed people in the ground who’ll clearly make it known.

i was wondering the other day that if we had been playing bolton would we have sold 20,000+ tickets. even if the match was for darby’s charity, i’d hazard a guess at we’d not sell more than 5k. so, are people going for darby or for liverpool?

They have just about sold out now, less than tickets 50 remaining.

 

Obviously Liverpool is a more attractive fixture, especially as the whole aim is to raise more money. I can't believe people will expect the exact team that turned up in the Champions League final.
I am not sure Bolton could even field a team at the moment.

 

It's City who are their second team.

We wouldn't see these people for dust if season tickets were priced regularly.

 

I’ve watched all the blocks come and go as Monday and Tuesday went on with exception of the D block but I’m presuming that was first as since they sold C and E then B and F followed by A and G

 

Thinking this exact thing just an hour ago.. Id hazard a guess to say the majority of these Bradford based "Liverpool Followers" wouldn't have had the foggiest idea who Stephen Darby was before this match was announced
