@Glenn Ackroyd The age at which you get a State Pension actually more complicated that that and will be for some considerable time. At the moment there are people who are 65 who don't get a State Pension and others aged 65 who do. The exact age you get your pension is actually going up monthly until it equalises at 66. However it does not stop then, as there wiil be a similar process for the future increase to 67 and beyond.

I think aligning the age change to the State Pension is fraught with difficulty for the ticket office if you are going to do it properly rather than just an approximation. If I were the club I would pick an age it thinks appropriate and stick with it whatever happens to the State Pension age.

 

As a 70 year old who was first entitled to concession 10 years ago it seems unfair to me that because of Government policy people have to wait longer and longer. Many older people can well afford to pay full price but some can't

 

and then you get those 60-65 year olds who claim to be 65+ so they can get a discounted ticket at some grounds yet they can fully afford to pay a full-priced adult ticket.

 

If lower league clubs are worried about the hardship from missing out on the odd £5 here and there from a small section of fans maybe they shouldn't be offering very average players 5 grand a week?

 

Whether you can afford it or not depends on a person’s personal circumstances. A number of ppl are retiring with a full mortgage to pay for-many they want/have to keep on working if they can. The government have shafted women’s pension on numerous occasions, so it is not that simple. I prefer to see good in ppl rather than have a pre set default of that ppl are fiddling the system.

 

what if it was 200 at a match and costing a club £1k a game, £23k (minus tax obviously) a year? if it was someone from a lower-socioeconomic background or a kid of 19 who looks younger getting in for junior prices the self-righteous baby boomers would be up in arms. yet for those sat on a nice cushty pot it’s ok to fiddle the system.

The friendly with Liverpool has turned into a debate about old people sat on ‘cushty pots’ who might be complaining about youngsters ‘fiddling’ or something. Christ the season can’t start soon enough.

Seems a bit strange to me to be discussing the quality of the opposition, seat location and allocation, concessionary pricing and qualification etc, and very little about work and aims of the foundation.
Let's all have arguments amongst yourselves rather than get behind this and the other efforts such as Distance for Darbs, or Parkinson, Parkin & Breacker cycling coast to coast to raise 25k

Totally agree, this foundation is very close to my heart. My brother in law died of this disease when he was 44 years old, lovely man. The more science into this disease the more chance we have of finding a cure or prevention or just knowing why the disease starts in the first place.

 

Its a comment expressing a contrary view to the one you obviously hold.

 

This in a nutshell. Amongst the usual pre season tripe we actually have a game that is watchable for various reasons, the main one being a fundraiser for a charity set up jointly for Stephen Darby. I don’t care for what team Liverpool put out, or what bloody seat number me and my lad will be sat in, i care more for what will be a fantastic occasion in the name of Darbs. A small gesture for a guy who gave so much for this club.
