The quality in this team and how we are set up structurally made me think of the parallels with Oldham.

Top flight for a period of their history and drop after drop after stagnation. Year upon year stuck in the league and so much fan unrest and atrocious owners.

    Parallels for everyone one see!!!

I don't think we are likely to go down, we are about as bang average a league two side as you can get. Re-build in the summer, bring in a load more average players, sack GA, rinse and repeat.

We are light years away from being a decent League 2 side at the moment.

Was listening to BBC Radio 5 Live at half time today, Gareth Ainsworth was on, he was talking about Orient and said something like the jump from League 2 to League 1 standard of football now entails quite an increase in performance and it's not an insignificant task.

It's not just getting out of this league, it's attempting to ensure it's not a one season departure and City are now a million miles away from even the standard when Rupp took control. Look at the quality of the squad in the nearly season compared to now. Rupp has overseen quite a demise in the standard of the squad and I've zero confidence that the setup behind the scenes is building towards that again.

I understand that by having a person in charge of transfers (Gent) and having a coach designated to setup the team (Hughes & Alexander) that your gonna have times where they don't see eye to eye on signings. But the gulf in difference is clear for all to see.

Hughes had a certain way of playing football, the majority of signings were nowhere near what he needed. Alexander now faces the same problem.

Until there is a proper structure behind footballing decisions at the club, were just gonna go round an round in circles. waste money on shit players an sell off the few assets we have, once they realise this club is going nowhere

The problem with league 1 these days is that it's almost 2 divisions in 1. The gap between top league 2 and bottom half league 1 isn't a lot, if anything some league 2 sides are probably better than league 1 sides which is why very few sides get promoted to league 1 and come straight back down. Of the 4 teams to be promoted last season 3 are in the top 10. I'd say the main difference is the top end although I don't think it's as strong as a few years ago when team coming down from the Championship had a lot of money, now a lot are coming down due to money troubles.

Correct, if we can’t beat dross like we witnessed just yesterday , then we have no hope at the moment.
