I totally agree. Never appealed to me.
But most southerners would have a similar opinion about tripe.

Don't think you'll get many cheap Air BnBs for one night - Have you tried Easy Hotel? Think it's around £80 for a room for 2. Any of the London locations would be easy enough to get to Orient on the Tube. IBIS budget in Barking might be an option too, around £50 but it's in a shithole.

I'm staying in Stockwell which is south of the river and about 35-40 mins on a tube to Orient. Unfortunately in London if you want a cheaper option something else has to give. As London Bantam said maybe choose one of those options or keep searching, took me about an hour of researching to find the right place practically (5min walk to the tube), right price (not too expensive) and decent host on air bnb. Problem is if you go cheap you're looking at being nowhere near a tube station (a 20 mins bus ride to a tube in some places @£30-40 a night) or somewhere outside of zone 2. If you're happy to do this, then do it. However factor into your costs travel charges and see if anywhere closer but a bit more expensive is worth it in relation to what you would have to pay in travelling. Mine was mid range-ish price wise (£80 for 2 nights), but I booked early as thought I would make a weekend of it being near Christmas.

I think it is all about timing. We booked a Premier Inn near Kings Cross for 2-6/1/2020 and it is £231.50 for four nights! Luckily for the orient games I am staying with family near Warwick Avenue. The TFGL route planner https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/ shows it as a 52 minute journey to Leyton Orient, but likely to get sucked into a boozer en route. The Technical looks a good bet. Last time we went to the William IV in Leyton but it looks to have gone downhill (apparently 10 handpumps, 9 unused)!

Moved this to the main City Talk section, where more people are likely to see it. Good luck.

Well done Andy. I booked yesterday and amazingly was able to get Advance and with my 'Old Geyser' Railcard treated myself to First Class at £118 return on the day.
Word of caution for those yet to book. I think works are on going at Kings X as my return is very bitty but for info:-
09.58 from Wakefield to Kings X.
Victoria Line Kings X to Blackhorse Road.
Overground Blackhorse 12.53 to Leyton Midland Road arriving 12.57.

The ground is a 15 minute walk, similar to time from station to Posh, Gills or Swindon.

Return from Midland Road (Take me home) at 17.45, time for a celebration pint to Blackhorse.
    Victoria Line to Finsbury Park.
    18.24 Finsbury Park to Stevenage.
18.55 Stevenage to Wakefield arrives 20.39.

Check what's going on at Kings X and remember for Advance there may be a lot of Christmas shoppers.
