Tim Dieng has scored more goals than every City player but Andy Cook this season! Is he on pens???

Pathetic effort from City with only Cook on the list. Harrogate, next to us in the table, have four players on the list.

Looks poor from Cook without doubt but tbf to him he's never a lone striker and is probably just about adequate for a decent L2 teams bench, where as we've had him up front on his own and had him as our man upfront, it was never going to go well. I think he's contracted for next season so I've no problem with him as back up.

Further evidence, should it be needed, that this season has been a complete catastrophe.

Wish we could skip to pre-season now.

I think that’s something every supporter would agree with, including the Burnley troll.

A mixed bag of success for clubs with goalscorers then.

The obvious success story is Stevens and Matt at FGR who are two of the top scorers and FGR top of the league.

In contrast Leyton Orient have 2 of the leagues top scorers in Drinan and Smith, yet they have struggled and are no better than us.

Harrogate have 3 goalscorers in that table, yet are below us in the table.

How does it look poor from Cook?

I can name you a lot of forwards that have been poor this season for us, scoring next to no goals, but it's weird, funky logic to say it's poor from Cook.

You've even outlined the reasons Cook has had a tough time scoring, but there are six or seven forwards at this club who have been real let downs. Cook isn't the one we need to be focussing on imho. He's the one capable forward lol

Harrogate have conceded 63 goals lol, so although they’ve a actually got four lads on this list, they undo it all with their awful defence. Orient are tight, by comparison (GA 40) but have now drawn (16) more than ourselves (14)!

The other thing to note with Cooky is that he scored most of his goals in the first half of the season. 10 goals in his first 21 games was a good record but obviously the Adams slump set in, he was devoid of service and in his last 13 games the only time he’s scored was a tap into an empty net when the Forest Green keeper got caught out going up for a corner.

Those dire stats are not all Cooks own doing, I think it says more about our set up more than anything.

it will be interesting to see if Hughes sticks with it next year or is just getting through until the summer with what he’s got and has been forced to stick with this set up.

I think of it like this. Would a team with Andy Cook as its main striker get you promoted?

Yet they are still below us in the league, and we've had a terrible campaign.

Not in this set up, no.

The only way this set up works is with a mobile man leading the line.

I just don’t like the set up. Not having a go at Hughes as I appreciate he has to work with what he’s got, but we’ve a lot of attacking players who are contributing little in terms of goals and assists.

let’s hope he’s ruthless in the summer.

Tim scores a lot of his goals from corners(he should have scored against us). I sometimes read a league 2 forum and this week, posters from Tranmere and Port Vale have said that Omari Patrick looks a good player and they hope that their teams go after him. Didn't someone once say "it's a funny old game"?

A lot of players at our club over the last 4 years have suffered a club in complete turmoil with no leadership on or off the field. Even now there will be players who leave us at the end of the season who could well go on to perform better elsewhere. And to be fair to the likes of Patrick and Jordan Gibson they've gone away and shown they can perform at this level on a regular basis.
And I read on here a while back that managers don't matter? Yeah right.

Got to be a seven figure transfer to a Championship club next season now. We'd have at least doubled our money, more likely treble or quadrupled our original outlay.

You offer them enough and they join. Look at Mullin at Wrexham. 4 grand a week gets you a striker whose goals have you in the top two. Infact it looks like the divisions top two spenders will finish first and second.
