    Presumably they needed the 70 quids worth of food they'd just spent time walking up and down the aisles collecting, so walking out and leaving it all would just mean they would have to go to another supermarket and waste more of their weekend doing the 'big shop' all over again.
    Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

    I agree with your latter post but nothing wrong with paying cash anywhere or at least shouldn't be
    I try to go through checkouts as it keeps people in jobs.

    That's the thing he says it was only self checkout that were open. I know when I will go Asda at 7'30 in morning in Colne as I do every Tuesday there won't be anyone on the tills unless you ask staff and then they try to put you through self check outs

    He only had cash on him or so he says, however I pay 95% of the time by cash only for fuel do I use a card.

    Each to their own, but it seems bizarre to me. Contactless is so easy that I've almost given up carrying cash these days.

    Of course they are making it easy, it's to get the unknowing to use contactless payments so you can be tracked and categorised then all the data will be used against you in the future.
