All Kias are wank, Protons too, wouldn't be seen dead, if you have teenage kids they'll kick off and refuse to get in them, younger kids will cringe at the pics later in life, dad jean wearer = Kia driver.

My parents have both got Kia’s and can not fault then. Really good if anything goes wrong, long warranty on them. My dad paid for something fixing as he thought warranty had run out and when he went to trade it in just after they said it would have been covered

Looks ok from reviews - no more than that. Long warranty is a good selling point. Personally I am yet to be convinced by hybrids though I do fancy a crossover or small SUV such as petrol Seat Ateca or Mazda CX5 myself when I get rid of mine. If buying new don't forget to look on Carwow

Had a quick look on Carwow:

Absolutely true that, in the past, Kias and Hyundais (and Skodas!) were the butt of many jokes but I don't think that is the case nowadays as they make decent, solid cars albeit I have never owned one. Teenagers refusing to get in is surely a bonus?
Protons, on the other hand, are utter garbage and, to be honest, I didn't realise they were still sold over here as I can't recall seeing any in the past decadeSkyebantam likes this. -

From Carwow following Mitsubishi pulling out of the partnership: This has left Proton with an outdated range of cars that are outclassed in every area. They drive badly and suffer horrendous depreciation; they might be cheap to buy but they will likely cost you more in the long run. In this price range there are plenty of rivals that offer much better cars. They offer better quality, are cheaper to operate and will not depreciate as fast

Cheers BP, i'll pass the info on to the mrs. We do very high mileage and spend a lot on petrol. So hoping the low tax and electric feature, for shorter runs, might save us a bit. We're looking at a 4 yr lease of a new vehicle through Vanarama at the moment but only starting to look after we discovered in the small print in our finance deal we can get rid of our Astra now. That car has been good, but starting to cost on repairs now, 80,000 miles, 4 yr old. I find the whole area of car finance a bit of a minefield tbh, but probably not alone there.

PCP price is usually lower and might be better value.
