Problem is that the outfield players also tend to be of League 2 standard... I wonder what the ratio of shots on target to shots in stand / over stand / out for a throw-in etc. would be.

To be fair on this specific topic, there are 9 other outfield players who can take responsibility. More so there 4-5 playing in positions that put them in the position to better test the keeper. Our first goal of the season came from a shout outside the box, as did Pointons goal last week.

 

Being league two standard doesn’t stop them at least trying though. Oduors shot that the keeper spilled was our first shot in earnest - what was that, 78 minutes or so?
He spilled a comfortable save and yet we’d not even tested him prior to that

 

He’s not the player of last season, Sanderson has far better ball control, is faster and not bundled off the ball so easily. Of all the side thus far three players are just not performing , and they are not newcomers!

Halliday is slow and getting murdered on our right in three of our games, little penetration going forward . Yesterday , honestly he was awful , ambling back when getting caught on the halfway line. MKD goal.
Kelly. Aimless passing, and slow in control and getting caught as a result during a press.

 

And let’s not forget about Pattison , or Bobbys goals so far.

To be fair Pattison did exactly that at MK. Need more of that from him. Clarke Odour always has a go which got us our goal at Grimsby. Pointon, Walker and Sarcevic also have a crack. Kav tried a few against Bromley.
Newcastle Tuesday is a good one to give Odour a start. I'd stick with Kav for this one aswell, no pressure if you have another stinker but a goal would do him good. Try Jay Benn at RWB aswell give Halliday a rest.

 

Say you have 20 shots a games at goal surly at least 3/4 of them should be testing the keeper .............managers up and down the land seem obsessed with scoring a Man City goal rather than just belting the thing

Remember Mcdonalds first game in charge lsst season Swindon ?????? Where it seemed that the teams whole aim was to belt it if your within 30 yards and how we looked a better team.

Rather have that than completting 400 passes a game and the keeper being tested in the odd corner

 

It's woeful in L2 each week, RCB, if a side has 10 shots they probably hit the target twice.

 

That return for premier league forwards would be pie in the sky Gaz, you only have to watch weekend games and probably 20% of zillion £ footballers shots make the keepers needing to make a save..

Tottenham v Newcastle 20 shots , only 6 on target. The rest either miles off or blocked and no knowing if they would hit the corner flag. We need to stop living in FIFA 22 world and be slightly more realistic…….No word on Pattison’s nor Bobbys “ having a go” goals yet?
