@brisbanebantams misses the overall point, Bronco.

I don't give a fig if Wright was on £100 pw or £10,000 per week.
The fact remains the lad failed to put the required effort in to be paid a wage, irrespective of the paid rate.

 

I wouldn’t disagree. Look I have worked for some of the worst managers there is, but I always had my own professional standards that I employed, it is hard but you don’t want your reputation to suffer. Look at Brunker he was low skill striker, but not once did he fail to put in the effort. He shouldn’t have been here and that is down to the management.

 

Shouldn't this be in Where are they now forum?

 

If it was an ability issue, I could buy that. There are players that come and go and some simply do not have the ability. Someone like Brunker.

But Wright simply never showed any effort and for that I cannot forgive. Forgive a lack of talent but never forgive a lazy can’t-be-assed player

 

Why?

I don’t wish him ill, but he did nothing whatsoever to inspire well wishes either.

Maybe that’s just me. But I’m just glad he’s gone.

 

Not Faithful’s biggest fan, but where has he been bitter? He’s said he has no animosity but equally isn’t going to wish him well.

Well he certainly fooled Rahic & co, stole a wage at Valley Parade last season wasn't by himself either, good riddance, lets hope we can also move on Riley, Akpan, and O'Connor.

 

Quite so Brisbane. Now Josh has gone this doesn't matter anymore, so.
About a month from the end of the season I saw Abbo in Wetherby as I have from time to time, he was in at Mansfield then. Amongst his understandable angst in a certain direction he was big enough to admit it was him and him alone responsible for signing Josh, no other influences. He also admitted it was one of the biggest mistakes he has made but had no reason why it had not worked out.
Very strange because every club I went to who had Josh as a player spoke well of him. There was one exception in PP who like Abbo lives near me and said he thought from a personality point of view it was a terrible signing.
GB, like PP seems big on that sort of thing so hopefully no repeat.

Over 40 years I worked under some right schitt excuses for Managers - But never once did I allow their own misgivings affect my own performance and efforts. I did what I did for myself, and the Company who paid my wages, whilst ensuring I didn't 'short change' the customer, in terms of service delivered.
It's called personal pride.
